Intermountain Fence Pros

It’s been 2.5 months since I traded in my corporate badge?? for a pair of muddy boots?? and joined the #entrepreneurship ??. We have been able to install over 30 fences, go to two trade shows, and are preparing to be in the upcoming Utah Valley Parade of Homes?! As I know many of you are looking to make the jump, I wanted to share a few of my learnings. - Quality Matters??: It’s worth choosing the best materials and having top tier talent run our installations. Its greatly helped to reduce problems and has created a great customer experience. - Choose your Customers??: Know what you want to focus on and realize that you won’t win every job and shouldn’t specialize in everything. Find what you are good at and double down on it. - Luck?? vs. Hard work: I have always appreciated how Guy Raz asks the question on the How I Built This podcast of what percentage of success is due to luck or timing and what percentage is due to hard work. There has definitely been a lot of both of these. But hard work often creates luck. - Problem Solving ??: Regardless of how good of a job you do or how much you prepare, problems will arise. Take them head on and remember that those around you are human too. Often treating people like humans can result in a mutually beneficial solution. It’s much better to eat the costs on one job than to ruin a relationship with a great supplier, contractor, or customer. - Gratitude?? : Recognizing and showing gratitude to God, Family, Suppliers, Friends, Employees, etc. has brought me more happiness in my day to day and hopefully helped spread that happiness to others. - Connecting with Others??: One of the best parts of branching out on my own has been the many of you who have called, texted, messaged, shared a meal with me, or sent over a referral. It’s reminded me how important relationships are and how many amazing people I have in my life. (Many of whom it’s been far too long since we have connected) Overall I have loved the journey and am excited to continue to grow Intermountain Fence Pros !
