Striving for a Better Tomorrow ??

Each year, we challenge ourselves to surpass our previous achievements in giving back. This year, we're broadening our efforts with a comprehensive pledge that encompasses charity work, donations, and impactful sustainability initiatives. For every placement we make, we're planting trees, contributing to a greener planet one step at a time. Moreover, our headquarters isn't just a place of work; it's a testament to our commitment to the environment. Nestled in the Harewood Estate, our office operates one of Yorkshire's largest biomass boilers, utilising wood chippings from the estate. This initiative has led to a remarkable 500-ton reduction in CO2 emissions annually since its launch.

As we dive into the new year, we're thrilled to announce our sponsorship of a local Leeds event that's close to our hearts – the Thirsty Thursday Club . This unique networking event caters specifically to professionals in the Facilities Management and Construction sectors and is a collaborative effort between Booth FM and Innovex. What makes this event even more special is its cause: all donations and proceeds are directed to the Homeless Street Angels, an incredible initiative led by the remarkable Becky Joyce .

The future of work ?

Recent findings from the International Longevity Centre have sparked a significant conversation about the future of the UK's state pension age, suggesting it may need to climb even higher than previously thought. As it stands, the state pension age is 66, with plans already in motion to increase it to 67 and then 68. However, new discussions are emerging around the possibility of extending the age to 71 for individuals born after April 1970.

One of the main factors driving this reevaluation is the issue of poor health, which has been identified as a leading reason for people leaving the workforce prematurely. This has ignited debates on the appropriateness and fairness of current retirement age policies.

In light of these discussions, we turned to you for your insights, asking, "Are you prepared to work until you're 71?" The response was overwhelmingly one-sided. With over 8,500 participants weighing in, a striking 80% expressed their reluctance, stating NO, while only 20% were in favor, saying YES.

These findings have fueled several appeals to the government to reconsider taking such a step, highlighting the public's concern over extending the working age.
