Digital twins enhanced by artificial intelligence (AI) will offer exponential added value to geodata and with these words, Dr. Burkhard Boeckem, CTO of Hexagon AB, leads through his keynote speech at the INTERGEO CONFERENCE 2024. ?? The changes brought about by AI-based digital twins have great potential and can be used in areas such as construction, infrastructure planning and maintenance, mining, agriculture and urban planning. Communication with a digital twin works in both directions, from the virtual to the real world and vice versa. This means that discrepancies and conflicts can be avoided. If we look at BIM-based construction in the construction industry, for example, huge amounts of data are converted into information by algorithms that provide knowledge and insights. ?? ? This combination of technologies encounters complex global challenges and where it meets people, opportunities arise to identify and optimize inefficient processes. ? ?? Happy World GIS Day! ?? On 20 November, we celebrate World GIS Day, which was initiated by ESRI to raise awareness of the immense importance of geographic information systems (GIS). GIS has revolutionised the way we understand, map and manage the world. In a world that is becoming increasingly complex and interconnected, GIS helps us to visualise and analyse data - whether in the areas of environmental protection, urban planning, disaster management or climate change. With GIS we can, for example, manage resources more efficiently, minimise disaster risks or optimise traffic routes. ?? GIS makes the world more tangible, more networked and more sustainable. On this day, let's celebrate all the exciting applications and innovations that make GIS possible! ?? #WorldGISDay #GIS #GeospatialCommunity #Sustainability #ESRI

Today marks International World Cities Day and we take a look at the dynamic urbanisation that is shaping our cities. ?? The aim is to work together to tackle sustainable urbanisation in the 21st century. More and more people are moving to the city, which brings with it both opportunities and challenges. More than 8 billion people already live in the world today and around 57% of them live in cities. By 2050, this figure is expected to rise to 70%. ??? What impact will this have on our future generations and how can we shape these developments sustainably today without compromising quality of life and wasting resources? Geospatial data and innovative technologies are crucial for building smart and sustainable cities. Through smart planning, digital infrastructures and sustainable mobility, we can create liveable spaces for all. Let's work together on solutions that enrich urban life and protect our environment at the same time! ?? #INTERGEO #SmartCities #GeospatialData #InnovativeTechnologies?
