There's a lot going on at Interfaith! Today, more than 200 members of the community got a sneak peak of our new expanded Detox, set to open at our Escondido headquarters next week. Thank you to all who advocated and donated to this important expansion of our Detox program, bringing our capacity to 32 beds. And yesterday our staff celebrated Black History Month with speaker Dr. Nate Sessoms and a staff luncheon of soul food, fellowship, and fun!

We are grateful to the students and congregation of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church! Their hard work resulted in nearly 1,000 hygiene kits for Interfaith. These kits, assembled by their students, will be distributed throughout our community, providing not only essential items but also the opportunity for individuals to feel clean and dignified. Thank you for your continued support.

Great News! Following Escondido City Council's approval of our detox expansion, we're hosting an informal open house this Thursday, February 27th, from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM at 550 W Washington Avenue, in our former Haven House shelter. Please feel free to invite friends, family, or anyone interested in celebrating this much-needed resource. We'll have staff available to answer your questions. Additional parking will be across the street at Escondido World Marketplace.

Needs of the Week: Furniture Edition! Our Make-it-a-Home team needs furniture such as dressers, small sofas, and side tables. Last month alone, Interfaith helped 41 adults (including 3 veterans and 6 children) move into new homes. By alleviating the financial stress of furnishing their spaces, clients can instead focus on settling their families into their new environments and put their earnings toward healthcare, educational opportunities, and food stability. Having recently celebrated our first board chair, we now honor our current chair, Dr. Kadri J. Webb. A Baltimore native, Reverend Webb serves as Senior Pastor at St. John Church of Oceanside, where he recently celebrated his tenth anniversary. At Interfaith, he has been instrumental in strengthening how we empower our clients, including combatting systems and policies that result in inequitable outcomes, and strengthening the diversity of Interfaith's Board. During his two terms as Board Chair, Interfaith has opened the Turk Recuperative Care Center and the first low-barrier family shelter in North County. Dr. Webb's contributions were recently recognized with the NAACP Religious Service and Activism Award. He embodies the principle, "Actions speak louder than words." Dr. Webb, thank you for your leadership. We are honored to partner with you in furthering Interfaith's mission.
