Check it out! Interfaith Power & Light's new Congregational Solar Census found that 2,545 faith communities across the United States have collectively installed 170 MW of solar capacity! ? At this installed capacity, faith communities are avoiding 236,000 of CO2 emissions, equivalent to nearly 50,000 cars from the road. Across the country, faith communities are stepping up, acknowledging the urgency of addressing the climate crisis, and taking action to reduce emissions and protect our Sacred Earth. "Climate work is inherently long-term. Tackling climate change means transforming global systems, from how we produce energy to how we grow food, and it’s a task that spans decades, not election cycles. Solutions require the collaboration of nearly every country, transcending individual governments or political shifts." IPL board member and director of the Lutheran Office of Public Policy, Regina Q. Banks, JD, shares reflections from Baku, Azerbaijan, in a blog post on COP29. #COP29Baku #faithsforclimate #COP29 https://lnkd.in/e4GAtQPD

COP29 comes at a critical moment. We are witnessing the tragic effects of climate change play out worldwide as climate disasters intensify. As the wealthiest country in the world and the country that has emitted more carbon pollution than any other, the U.S. has a moral responsibility to help solve this crisis and to commit to our fair share of funding to address it. In a petition sent to the Administration and shared with the U.S. delegates attending COP29, IPL is asking the U.S. to make these four commitments and to advance these priorities during negotiations: 1. Accelerate Ambition on Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) 2. Increase Climate Finance Commitments 3. Support Loss and Damage Finance 4. Include Climate and Environmental Justice in Adaptation and Mitigation #cop29baku #COP29Azerbaijan #climatejustice #faithsforclimate

“In the immediate aftermath of this election, I want to extend my deep gratitude to the election workers, the volunteers, and everyone who went out to cast their ballot to ensure our democracy reflects the voices of all Americans. Your dedication and commitment to the democratic process reflect our moral call, as people of faith, to live out our values in the public square. At Interfaith Power & Light, we recognize elections are about more than the votes cast, but about the voices heard, and about the collective hope for a better future for our nation and our Sacred Earth. “However, I also want to speak to the fear, uncertainty, and grief you may be experiencing as we woke this morning to results that may not reflect our vision of hope and unity for our nation..." Happy Election Day! The IPL team is voting our faith values. Join us and make your voice heard! ????? Visit www.faith-votes.com for last-minute help on where and when you can vote, and to take a look at what’s on your ballot. Remember, Election Day is not results day. Election workers need time to count every vote - including in-person, absentee, overseas, and military ballots. When it comes to election results, accuracy is more important than speed. We believe in the process and say?#CountEveryVote!
