Interfaith Community Services is celebrating the one-year anniversary of its family shelter. To mark this milestone, a group of generous supporters has pledged to match donations dollar-for-dollar up to $500,000. Since its launch, the shelter—the only 24-hour, low-barrier family shelter in North County San Diego—has provided a safe haven for 66 families. Our ambitious goal is to end family homelessness in North County, and we need your help! Our shelter can currently accommodate 12 families at a time, but there's a waiting list of over 100 families in urgent need of shelter. From now until December, your donation will be DOUBLED, with all funds going toward our One Campaign to end homelessness in North County, one family at a time. Shaina had a challenging childhood, raised by a single mother working three jobs. When she lost her job during the COVID-19 pandemic, her situation worsened. One setback led to another, ultimately leaving her homeless and living in her car for months. A lifeline appeared in the form of an Interfaith case manager who helped her secure housing. Now, Shaina is employed full-time and has re-established her relationship with her husband and three young children. Family homelessness often goes unseen and with the rising costs of living, many families are struggling to get by. Interfaith's Family Shelter provides a safe space and healing environment for families experiencing homelessness. All residents have access to budgeting classes, therapy, life skills, and employment assistance, and other case-managed services that will help them regain self-sufficiency. Calling all North County Behavioral Health providers! Interfaith is hosting a HYBRID (Online and In-Person) Faith-Based Mental Health Training. This training consists of two parts: Part 1: Five days on Zoom, December 2nd to 6th, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM. Part 2: One-day in-person session on Tuesday, December 10th, from 8:15 AM to 5:00 PM. The deadline to register is November 27th. Plates piled high and smiles all around! Last night, crew members from BJ's Restaurants, Inc. Escondido treated more than 150 clients in Interfaith’s residential programs to a feast of pasta, pizza, salad, and lemonade. BJ’s Escondido supports several Interfaith events throughout the year and we are grateful for their partnership and dedication to our local Escondido community.

Congratulations to Norma on her recent promotion! She has been part of the Interfaith Team for a little over 2 years and has seen first-hand how rewarding her job has been. Norma started as an Intake Specialist and truly values how Interfaith has nurtured her desire for professional growth. Norma is very excited to learn more about how she can continue to make an impact in her new role as a Permanent Housing program manager. A fun fact about Norma is that she loves to travel and will find any excuse to jump on a plane and go to a new place.

Intuit Cares! Interfaith was honored to join several other local nonprofits yesterday at Intuit's San Diego campus to take part in their Giving Social, where employees had the opportunity to learn more about our work. In addition, Intuit matched every employee donation at 100%! Interfaith recognizes Intuit as a company that cares through their donations of time and in-kind gifts throughout the year.
