Sometimes construction projects seem to drag on and on forever... Not at all the case for this one, our new wedding and events pavilion at Wind Mountain Ranch, near Stevenson, Washington.? The venue is already up and running, hosting weddings with unbelievable views of the Columbia River Gorge. The team at Kirby Nagelhout did a fantastic job on a really tight schedule. We worked hard to distill this structure to its most simple form, to integrate it into the site, and to create a unique venue that would also be flexible enough to allow couples to tailor the lighting, decor, sequence of events, and style to best suit who they are. Lots of cool details on this one, including shou sugi ban (charred wood) siding, hidden gutters, and custom steel hardware that's designed to accommodate hanging decor, to name a few. There are lots more archi-nerdy things to talk about, but I'll save those for when we have professional photography. The Architect's Newspaper recently featured Central Library at Stevens Ranch, our mass timber public library project in central Oregon. “The new library by Miller Hull, a practice with offices in Seattle and San Diego, will top out at 3 stories and be built at Stevens Ranch, a tract just east of downtown Bend. Yesterday,?CIS (Citycounty Insurance Services)?broke ground on their new Collaboration Center in Wilsonville, Oregon. The new Collaboration Center will serve as the hub for CIS employees and members. The Center will be full of natural light and contain a variety of workspaces to support the various modes of work. I will include an expansive member training room, 29 offices for focused work, open workstations, flexible meeting spaces, formal conference spaces, a large breakroom, and an outdoor patio. The design and construction team includes?Mackenzie,?Interface Engineering, Inc.,?Bremik Construction, and?Cumming Group. Congratulations?to CIS!

TVA is thrilled to share that the Salem Historic Landmark Commission recently awarded the Benjamin Maxwell Award for Outstanding Example of New Construction in a Historic District to the The Holman Hotel. Located within the National Register-listed Downtown Salem Historic District, the design of the hotel’s fa?ade is a thoughtful reflection of the district's architectural heritage. The building’s form, massing, and use of exterior materials honor the few remaining structures that speak to Salem's architectural history. Inside, the hotel's rooms and communal spaces bear the names of the city's pioneering women, celebrating their contributions to Salem's rich heritage. Congratulations to the team, and thank you to the Salem Historic Landmarks Commission for this honor.
