This past Sunday, a team of our ICSD colleagues took part in the 5K and 12K runs at the Silver Strand Half Marathon, supporting the Live Sports Foundation (LFS). This incredible charity is dedicated to uplifting San Diego’s foster youth through sports by providing running shoes, funding for activities, and other life-enhancing programs. We take great pride in our ICSD team and the strong sense of community they foster together. We are honored to have partnered with Delta Air Lines, SoCal (Southern California) FACC - French American Chamber of Commerce, and Best Defense Foundation to honor the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. This evening was more than a tribute; it served as a bridge between generations and nations. With dignitaries like Adrien Frier , the Consul General of France in Los Angeles, and our esteemed veterans, the event emphasized the strong bonds between France and the United States. We celebrated the courage of heroes aged 98 to 104— Betty Rosevear, Bill Becker, Andre Chappaz, Maxim J. Gurney, Clayton B. Baum, Peter S. Sanzo, and Calvin Shiner—whose stories of sacrifice remind us of the enduring values of freedom and peace. As we reflect on this momentous occasion, we are reminded of the power of travel and hospitality in fostering understanding and connection across cultures. Each journey we take not only expands our horizons but also deepens our appreciation for the shared history and values that unite us. Together, through collaboration and a spirit of openness, we can continue to honor the past while building a brighter future for generations to come. Today, we take a moment to reflect on September 14th, when we teamed up with The Honor Foundation to support their Swim for SOF event. Swim for SOF brings together a diverse group of participants—supporters, veterans, and businesses—who are willing to take on the challenge. This race embodies the grit and determination of our Special Operations Forces, showcasing the incredible effort they put into defending our freedom.
