Interconnected Us

This year, I decided to bet on myself. I knew if I was going to carve out a successful career path, I had to be intentional - about where my time, energy, and resources were being allocated. I took a leap of faith and started working with Rachel. And it has truly been transformative. Working with intentionality and investing in myself has allowed me to: ?? Get focused within one of my industry practice groups, allowing me to identify a niche within that has incredible potential. ??? Leverage my firm’s resources in ways I hadn’t considered before, and inspiring me to make internal connections that I otherwise wouldn’t. ??? Expand my network with women from other firms who give me powerful insights, outside perspectives, and feedback. ?? Widen my view of successful pitching and powerful conversations, giving me fresh ideas how to broach these high-impact conversations.? ? This, for me, feels like the path to autonomy in the law. The chance to build my practice in a way that will serve me, and my family. In our Lawline CLE, we offered these tips to help #womenlawyers maximize your inner circle: 1. Seek out people who are not “like you.” 2. Avoid an insular circle. Too much similarity --> security, sure ... and, fewer new opportunities. Participate in friend circles and industry groups, yes, but intentionally complement them with connections who bring a different lived experience from your own.? 3. Avoid giving your time and attention to these types of people (according to Forbes): ?? Those who are unsupportive of your goals. ?? Those who are not as growth-oriented as you. ??
