Trafficking in human beings is a highly lucrative and often violent crime that destroys people’s lives. According to the latest data, the number of registered trafficking victims is on the rise. Civil society organisations play a key role in combatting trafficking in human beings. They offer a wide support to trafficking victims or potential victims, from legal counselling to medical support and education. ?? European Commission is now renewing the members of the "EU Civil Society Platform against trafficking in human beings" which brings together civil society organisations to share best practices and drive actions to combat trafficking in human beings. ??♀? The United Nations General Assembly has designated November 25 as the?International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women?(Resolution 54/134). The purpose of this day is to raise global awareness about the fact that women are subjected to rape, domestic violence, and other forms of violence. Additionally, one of the objectives of the day is to emphasize that the full scale and true nature of this issue are often concealed. ? In INTERCEPTED, we aim to support this global campaign by shedding light on an important issue.
