Happy World Food Day! Today, we celebrate the founding of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization in 1945 and call attention to over?2.8 billion people?in the world who are unable to afford a healthy diet. Let’s come together to champion food accessibility, diversity, affordability and safety for everyone.

Your generosity is making a real impact in our community, ensuring that children have access to the nutritious food they need to thrive. Together, we’re making a difference!

We had an amazing day today at our first Farm Fall Fest. We were honored with the presence of our founder Ms Jill Bullard and our awesome neighbors. ?Special thanks to our Development and Ops team for putting together such a wonderful event. I am honored to be part of your team! We want to recognized Loris and Demi for supporting the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle Hurricane Relief with over 300 lbs of much needed items. ?You guys ROCK!?

Last weekend, we hosted the first ever Food Shuttle Fest at our farm – and it was a huge success! Thanks to support from our volunteers, staff, neighbors, partners and donors, we had the joy of gathering as a community to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Inter-Faith Food Shuttle and explore new ways to make an impact in our community. https://lnkd.in/eg2GfDNz Photography by Ryaen Young

Thank you to Feeding America for awarding the Food Shuttle a Network Measurement, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) grant. As part of Cohort 1, the Feeding America MEL Research Team helped us learn how to evaluate our Child Hunger Programs in Nash & Edgecombe. At our Food Shuttle Fest on Saturday, we were so excited to share our findings through our "Data Walk"!

Our two Gardens For Everyone coordinators, Phoebe and Lynn, just hit 500 garden beds built, for a total of 634 overall! We are so proud of this achievement and couldn't be any more thankful to have them both out in our communities bringing Gardens For Everyone to our neighbors' homes. Thank you, Phoebe and Lynn, for all the hard work and dedication you have put into each and every garden box!

TOMORROW! Food Shuttle Fest will be going on tomorrow, October 5th from 11 AM till 3 PM. We are so excited to celebrate with you all and enjoy sometime together all while learning more about the Food Shuttle! Don't forget, we will also be having a Supply drive to support our neighbors affected by Hurricane Helene. Grab your kids for all the fun games and activities, and see you tomorrow!

The Culinary Apprenticeship Program (CAP) combines professional development, mentorship, and hands-on training to empower unemployed and under-employed neighbors to build fulfilling careers in our local culinary industry. We believe that combating hunger starts with providing people the tools and opportunities they need to thrive. Read more about the graduation of our latest class from CAP.

The Food Shuttle is actively working to support Hurricane Helene relief efforts. There are two critical ways you can join us in supporting affected communities: by donating to our FUND drive or our SUPPLY drive.?Join us this Saturday from 11 AM to 3 PM at Food Shuttle Fest to contribute. Inter-Faith Food Shuttle is not only a proud participant in the Whole Foods Market Grocery Rescue Program, but we’re also collaborating with Whole Foods Market to help provide healthy food access to approximately 500 families experiencing food insecurity in our local community at Poole Family YMCA on Tuesday, October 8th from 11am-2pm EST. Products will be given out at no cost and include pantry staples and fresh produce, while supplies last. We welcome our neighbors in need to join us at this farmer’s market style event.
