Now that we have the #Smart21 of 2025, we're looking forward to the next step in the Awards Program: the Top7 Communities. We're excited to travel to Las Rozas de Madrid, Spain for the Top7 Conference & Announcement on June 16-18. View the conference program: https://lnkd.in/g3WYn5ux The theme for this year's conference is "From Smart to Intelligent: Learn how to take your city, town or region from Smart City to Intelligent Community." Las Rozas is a city of just under 100,000 people, and is home to nearly 15,000 companies and self-employed workers. Its success has been from a combination of strong mayoral leadership, multi-level workforce development, and an innovation ecosystem largely driven by Las Rozas Innova, the Municipal Company for Innovation, Technological Development, Digital Transformation and Entrepreneurship.

Brightlands is an incredible story from this year’s #Smart21! Very well-deserved recognition for this community.

Happening now. The ICF Delegation is touring Yunlin County in Taiwan, a Top7 Intelligent Community in 2024. First off this morning was a visit to the Emergency Command Center showcasing how a region that may be lacking in some resources makes up for it through collaboration, cooperation and integration strategies. In the afternoon we visited the robotics lab at YunTech , the National University of Taiwan in Yunlin and also learned about TSMC’s partnership in training foreign students in advanced technologies that will benefit their operations abroad. Yunlin’s Magistrate was a gracious host and her staff and community demonstrated their warm welcome of our large delegation.

A century ago, Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA was a center of industry and innovation. The Coca Cola Bottling Companies were born there, and the city prospered from growth in heavy industry including metal foundries. By the 1970s, heavy industry began to shrink dramatically in the face of global competition, leaving the city with high unemployment, an under-skilled workforce and a legacy of polluted air. Worldwide partnerships ???? Intelligent Community Institutes

During the ICF economic development mission to Taiwan, Curitiba and ICF executed a letter of intent for Curitiba and the state of Parana to form an Intelligent Community Institute (TM) serving #Brazil.

Super exhibits at the Smart City Summit and Expo in Taipei this week. ICF has a delegation from several countries attending. Thanks to ICF Canada and ICF Taiwan for organizing the site visits to Taipei, Yunlin County and New Taipei City.

Kingston has made its way back into the #Smart21! And they aren't the only community from Ontario to make this year's list - The Durham Region and Grey County. Kingston previously appeared in the Smart21 in 2009 and 2014, making the Top7 in 2014. Read more: https://vist.ly/3mxiqg4
