Seven months ago, Reuben and I announced Intellectible on LinkedIn. Today, I am happy to announce that Intellectible has earned a spot in the Techstars Boulder cohort! ?? ?? ?? ?? Heartfelt gratitude goes out to the entire Techstars team for an engaging and challenging interview process. We're eager to get the chance to work and learn alongside some of the best new startups in the world. In a short span, Intellectible has made significant strides. We have crafted cutting-edge technology, empowering companies to craft quality grant and RFP proposals faster and more efficiently than ever before. We are excited to take that to the next level with Techstars and the great network they have built for founders. A massive thank you to our customers and especially our earliest users who share our vision for advancing the process of producing quality grant and RFP proposals. Story Time ?? ?? ?? In 2018 the Edtech company I Co-founded won a $4 million government contract to provide STEM education across 500 schools in Argentina. It was a pivotal moment for the business and ultimately was a keystone part of my raising a $15m+ Series B round. The part of that story I always left out was the months it took myself, my Head of Sales at the time and still great friend Joe Kelly, the rest of the sales team and one of our graphic designers to create the proposal. I don’t talk about the weeks of work putting together the 60 page document outlining not just our product and the special bundle pricing, the long term viability of our business or how we would address the specific outcomes required. I never talk about how we all poured over that document, reading it over and over again. Or the fact that version control was basically not a thing and we nearly submitted the proposal with a small section that was Loriem Ipsum… I rarely mention the pressure I put on Joe tasking him to absolutely win that RFP (how ridiculous!) or it was the end of the world because we wouldn’t post the growth we needed to. I also NEVER tell anyone that I stumbled on the opportunity by pure chance because the CEO of a larger Edtech than mine did not want to bother with a complicated project and called to tell me I should put in for it… Finally, I certainly don’t tell people that it was insanely risky to put 5+ people on that task when the end result very much could have been a rejection of our proposal because more often than not that is the end result - wasted resources chasing after big wins. My decision to chase that RFP took valuable sales resources away from ‘sales as normal’ and could have wasted easily $30,000+ worth of salary time. Fate as it would have it, landed us the big win though and we solidified ourselves as one of the fastest growing startups in the EU in 2018. In the end - I wished I could have done that 100 more times that year but there was just no scaling those efforts reliably and I had no idea how to find more opportunities like it. Plus I think the team would have self-destructed under that kind of intense document work.
