Congratulations to Shoshanna Weinstock, the newest inductee into The Annie Sullivan's League! Yossi Samuels faced profound challenges after a medical mishap at 11 months left him blind, deaf, and unable to communicate. Living in isolation for years, his life transformed when educator Shoshanna Weinstock employed tactile sign language and Braille to unlock his ability to express himself. Through her dedication, Yossi learned to communicate, leading to his development as a public speaker and advocate. Their bond, reminiscent of Helen Keller and Annie Sullivan, showcases the transformative power of perseverance and innovative teaching. Read more here:? https://lnkd.in/ebDCH2u4

Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month (DDAM) is in full swing, and today, we’re proudly showing our support. While this month provides an important opportunity to raise awareness, our commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and health equity extends far beyond March. At IntellectAbility, we believe that true awareness is built every day—by actively creating accessible, safe environments and providing meaningful opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities. It’s not just about what we do in March, it’s about the ongoing work we do year-round to empower those we support. ? #DevelopmentalDisabilitiesAwarenessMonth #Inclusion #Accessibility #HealthEquity #Empowerment #IntellectAbility #DDAM2025 #WearOrange #SupportAndEmpower

Many dental practices are not equipped to accommodate patients with disabilities, leading to significant disparities in oral health care. To address this, specialized centers like Ohio State University's Nisonger Center are developing tailored programs for patients with disabilities. Additionally, clinics such as Neighborhood Health and the Center for Family Health have introduced sensory-friendly exam rooms with adjustable lighting and sound-dampening features to create calming environments. Something that needs more airtime is the topic of loneliness. Particularly for those populations that are not as valued as the masses. I'm speaking about the approximate 1.3 billion people who have disabilities. Their experience of loneliness and isolation is profound. If we are feeling alone, they are feeling it worse. Ignoring the impact of loneliness is folly. When we converse, when we discover, when we learn, know that loneliness and it's partner the need to please will not be far away. Thank you, Rabbi Josh Lesser for this article and its wisdom. #loneliness #beabetterhuman #kindnessisnotweakness
