Thank you so much Sania Salman for this wonderfully kind review of our work. We are so glad you could see the changes that are being brought about with the Government of the #KyrgyzRepublic at the #lastmile. Deeply thankful to Mulago for the constant support. We cherish all that you have done and continue to do to enable this embedded change process.
Just wrapped up a great visit to Kyrgyzstan with Kenichi Nozaki to see Intelehealth, led by the one and only Neha Verma! Their work blew my socks off - they’ve got a simple, intuitive telemedicine platform that helps poor, rural patients get access to high-quality, life-saving care. Intelehealth is already beginning to scale in India. And, now they’re moving fast to replicate their work and scale up in Kyrgyzstan, where they joined forced with UNICEF to help children with disabilities get access to care, especially when time is of the essence (like spotting and treating neonatal jaundice so it doesn’t progress into cerebral palsy). Intelehealth’s smart telemedicine platform connects remote patients to real doctors—facilitated by local health workers with a digital assistant that improves diagnosis and treatment. The goal? A world where high-quality healthcare reaches the people who need it most and where governments lead the charge in making that happen. Already in Kyrgyzstan, doctors and clinics in very remote areas like Batken are using the platform to connect effortlessly with specialists. Before Intelehealth, parents of children with disabilities would need to save up to take a very long and expensive trip to one of the two major cities to get their kids the care they need. Most parents can’t afford to do that. One of the best things I learned - UNICEF funded the setup, but they are negotiating with the government to take up on the long-term, ongoing costs and to incorporate the platform and implementation within the digital health arm of the ministry of health. That’s how you build lasting change. And that’s why Mulago backs Intelehealth. They design for the government to be the doer and payer—not just another NGO running its own, expensive clinics with some telemedicine tacked on. Neha and her team are playing the long game. They helped Kyrgyzstan pass a national telemedicine policy, they’re shaping WHO guidelines on digital health, and they’re testing a model where governments set fair pay for telemedicine consults. Oh, and they’ve got an important RCT in India coming up to test just how much this tech improves health outcomes. The future of healthcare isn’t just tech—it’s about embedding solutions into systems that stick. And Intelehealth is one of the best I’ve seen. Also - the mountains framing this country are stunning - definitely worth a visit! Neha Verma Edil Tilekov

Happy International Women’s Day! Today, we celebrate the incredible contributions of women in healthcare—especially the frontline health workers, nurses, doctors, midwives, community health workers, and digital health innovators who keep healthcare systems running. These women are not just providers of care; they are trusted guides, advocates, and lifelines for communities that rely on them. At Intelehealth, we see firsthand how women health workers play a critical role in expanding access to care, particularly in underserved areas. Whether they are diagnosing illnesses via telemedicine, supporting maternal and child health, or ensuring that women can seek care safely and with dignity, their work strengthens entire health systems. We also recognize the importance of allyship—creating an environment where women in healthcare have the opportunities, resources, and recognition they deserve. When we uplift the women who lift up healthcare, we create stronger systems, healthier communities, and a more equitable future for all. To the women in healthcare and to everyone who supports and champions them—thank you. Your work is transforming lives. #InternationalWomensDay #WomenInHealthcare #FrontlineHeroes #EmpowerHealth #StrongerTogether

As we celebrate the resilience, grit, compassion and the many kinds of joy that women inspire for themselves and others, it is important to remember the challenges that many women face in accessing care when most needed. In terms of healthcare, almost 90% women at the #lastmile are unable to make independent healthcare decisions- many citing cost and distance as reasons for delaying care. #Intelehealth along with its partners works everyday to help women access #qualityhealthcare across geographies. We hope to widen and deepen the impact of this work manifold in the coming year.? Wishing you all a Happy International Women’s Day! #HappyWomensDay #SDG5 #SDG3 #HealthforAll #Intelehealth #Telemedicine #DigitalHealth #WomensHealth #globalgoals #AIandHealth #OpenSource #HealthTech
