Thrilled to see students engaging with Holocaust Center for Humanity, reinforcing their school namesake Carla Olman Peperzak's own efforts to teach this important history of remembrance...
HISTORY LESSON: “It’s helping me to be more like Carla Peperzak and stand up for what’s right.” Last week, representatives from the Holocaust Center for Humanity visited Peperzak Middle School to share information and artifacts about the history of the Holocaust. With support from HCH to facilitate learning, Peperzak is the only middle school in Washington that includes a history unit on the Holocaust for all three grades. Teaching this history to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders is part of the school’s commitment to uphold the life’s work of its namesake, Carla Olman Peperzak, a member of the Dutch Resistance who has devoted much of her adult life to making sure the Holocaust is never forgotten.?
