Transforming trauma into resilience for communities impacted by disasters.

关于我们

Integrative Healers Action Network (IHAN) provides the structure and support needed for integrative health practitioners to offer safe, effective, and vital trauma-informed care to evacuees and first responders during major disasters in California and beyond. IHAN-trained site coordinators establish integrative medicine clinics in emergency shelters and first-responder base camps through our community partnership with the American Red Cross. We collaborate with and organize local practitioners to volunteer their integrative medicine services and ensure the practitioner and patients safety by providing systems for oversight such as verifying licenses, malpractice insurance, and providing trauma-informed care training. Examples of the types of modalities offered in our emergency integrative medicine clinics include but are not limited to: massage therapy, naturopathic medicine, chiropractic care, acupuncture, homeopathy, osteopathy, functional medicine, and mind body medicine. Integrative medicine is uniquely able to address the multiple layers of trauma that occur during disasters because it addresses the whole person, the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual pillars of wellbeing. Integrative medicine, practiced both immediately and over the long-term, can help individual survivors, first responders, as well as entire communities, build resilience. Through integrative care, IHAN seeks to support the innate human capacity to survive and thrive during times of challenge and stress.

Urgent Call for Volunteers and Donations to Support Firefighters in LA This Weekend In partnership with the Volunteer Fire Foundation and Acupuncturists Without Borders, we urgently need licensed and certified volunteers with their own malpractice insurance to provide trauma-informed care for firefighters facing severe health challenges due to toxic exposure. We are looking for naturopathic doctors (NDs), bodyworkers of all types, acupuncturists, and clinic coordinators to join us this weekend. The toxic exposure firefighters are facing in LA is severe, and they’ve been urgently calling us back because they need immediate, acute care. Last weekend, we delivered over 1,000 treatments to first responders in critical need at the Rose Bowl and other pop-up clinics around LA. The response has been overwhelming, and things are moving quickly as we continue supporting these brave first responders who are working tirelessly to keep communities safe. We’re here to help the helpers do their jobs. If you’re able to help or spread the word, it would mean so much. How You Can Help: Volunteers can register here: https://lnkd.in/dDqr65i6 Donations can be made here: https://lnkd.in/dAT6Pn75 The clinics will take place at a fire station in LA, and the exact location will be shared with fully registered volunteers. If you're new to our network, please register to get involved. For those already registered, check your email from last night for updates and instructions. We are so grateful for your dedication to helping us deliver vital care during this urgent response. Thank you for your support! Register to volunteer: https://lnkd.in/dDqr65i6 Donate to help us get the medical supplies we urgently need: https://lnkd.in/dAT6Pn75 #lacomplexwildfires #integrativehealth #environmentalmedicine #firefighters

  • Our hearts are with the communities impacted by the devastating LA wildfires. Since the 2017 Tubbs Fire in our hometown of Santa Rosa, we’ve witnessed the profound and lasting effects of wildfires on communities throughout California. The mental, emotional, and physical toll—trauma, sleepless nights, respiratory issues, pain, and stress—can linger long after the flames are extinguished. We’re starting our first clinic this Friday, 1/17, at a first responder base camp and have already seen an outpouring of interest from volunteers wanting to get involved. With another red flag warning in LA today and strong winds expected, we’re planning and preparing for this to be a long-term response, addressing both immediate relief and ongoing recovery needs. We know many people are hurting, and we’re committed to supporting evacuees and first responders when they need it most. To ensure we can grow our team and expand efforts to help both first responders and civilian populations, we need your help. We’re seeking practitioners to provide massage therapy, acupuncture, naturopathic medicine, homeopathy, chiropractic care, yoga, and mindfulness, as well as critical admin support to keep everything running smoothly. Community connection is at the heart of this work—thank you for your continued support as we navigate this vital response together. • Seven years ago, the Tubbs Fire tore through Sonoma County, forever shaping the way we live and understand the climate crisis. That fire was a wake-up call, showing us just how real and immediate this threat is. And now, it’s only escalating—impacting communities around the globe with increasing urgency. From the Tubbs Fire to Hurricane Helene, to the incoming Hurricane Milton, we are witnessing how deeply climate-driven disasters ripple through everyday lives. The crisis that began reshaping our community in 2017 is now a global reality. At IHAN, we believe in building resilience before and after disasters. Our work in trauma-informed care and integrative health supports people as they navigate the ongoing impact of these crises. The need for the type of support we provide has never been clearer—helping communities heal, rebuild, and move forward in the face of an uncertain climate future. This is a defining moment for all of us. We must come together, with compassion and care, to face these growing challenges and protect our communities—both local and global. #TubbsFireAnniversary #ClimateCrisis #ResilienceNow #GlobalCommunity #CommunityHealing #IHAN #IntegrativeHealth #ActNow #SonomaStrong

Today is 7 years, 84 months, 365 weeks, 2556 days, 61360 hours since our lives in the North Bay of San Francisco changed forever. It was then the Era of Megafires opened wide (we got a clue in 2015 in the Valley Fire) and swallowed 8900 structures across 4 counties and took with it 43 lives. We went to bed on October 8, 2017 believing tomorrow would look like today. We were wrong. But even so, we got up again, we helped our neighbors, we housed our friends, we saved pets, we changed laws, we shared with strangers, we hugged each other always. We didn't ask for party registration. We didn't demand proof of citizenship. We didn't shoot people or hoard our food. We showed up for each other again and again and again. Then we showed up for other communities leveled by megafires. Again and again and again. This is who we are as a nation. We are kind and generous and flawed and hopeful -- never more so than in the face of disaster. We are in disaster, as Hawaiians say, "Aloha" personified. After the Fire USA is proud to stand with, for and by all disaster survivors. Same as we did when formed on October 11, 2017. We rose from ashes to care for our people, our land, our newly fire-affected communities. We do good work together. It is always a WE project. Thank you for your ongoing support of our work. #afterthefire #afterthefireusa #wildfire #collaboration #community #wildfireleadership #resilience #aloha Jennifer Gray Thompson, MPA Judy Coffey, RN, MBA Lisa Micheli

California State Fire Marshal (CAL FIRE)

?? California is experiencing an active early fire year. ?? The number of wildfires is up 9% this spring, but the acres burned have skyrocketed by 1,462% - from 5,747 acres to 89,784 acres over the same period (Jan 1 - Jun 19), which is well above normal for this time of year. 95% of wildfires in California are human-caused and are occurring in areas with grasses and light flashy fuels that have dried out. Additionally, winds are contributing to these fires moving quickly and consuming thousands of acres. Californians can help by being wildfire-safe: ?? Don’t mow after 10 a.m. ?? Don’t allow vehicle tow chains to drag. ?? Don’t pull your vehicle into dry grass. ?? One less spark is one less wildfire. Follow incidents in real-time at: https://www.fire.ca.gov/ and learn more about preventing wildfire at: https://lnkd.in/gAwddYCq
