Since starting her career in construction as an office assistant, Cassie Heller has built a career defined by determination and a hands-on approach to learning. Over nearly two decades, she has worked her way through roles in project coordination, preconstruction, and site management—ultimately managing multi-million-dollar projects, including a $200 million Boeing facility. Along the way, Cassie has become a passionate mentor, encouraging women to step into the industry with confidence. She has mentored multiple young professionals, all of whom have gone on to build successful careers in the industry. Cassie believes that communication, adaptability, and problem-solving are just as crucial to success in construction as technical expertise. Part 2 of the Eureka Government Center Case Study ?? Delays are an inevitable part of construction—but how they’re managed makes all the difference. At Integrate Construction Partners, we take a proactive approach, anticipating project movements and adapting swiftly to minimize disruptions. Winning the Eureka Government Center project meant delivering 100 days ahead of our competitors—but unexpected delays put that goal to the test. As we started digging the site, unforeseen 900lb rock slowed excavation (read more on our last post - part 1 of this case study). An additional 38-day steel delivery delay and permitting setbacks threatened further disruption. Our response? Strategic solutions that kept progress moving: ? Accelerated underground utility work by approximately 35 days. ? Poured slab-on-grade early to offset steel delays. ? Prioritized unaffected tasks to maintain momentum. ? Proactively collaborated with stakeholders to anticipate and mitigate plumbing permit delays. How do you keep a project on track when 900 cubic yards of unexpected rock stand in your way? ?? Read Part 1 of our case study on our recently completed Eureka Government Center project below ?? In the competitive construction industry, it’s not always about being the lowest bid—it’s about delivering value through efficiency and expertise. Our success in securing the Eureka Government Center project is a prime example of this approach in action. While we were ranked 5th among competitors, our ability to deliver the project 100 days faster than the competition ultimately earned us the contract. ?? When we began construction, we encountered several unexpected challenges that threatened to delay our timeline. 1?? First: excavating 900 cubic yards of unexpected rock. What did we do? 1. We quickly mobilized additional equipment for rock removal. 2. We resequenced footing work to ensure construction could proceed. 3. This required tight coordination between footing placement alongside rock removal and backfill efforts with a limited amount of work areas. By addressing this challenge quickly, we completed the removal process and began subsequent activities on schedule, minimizing the impact of the additional excavation scope.
