?? ???????? ?? ????????????-?????????? ????????????. And that means ... ? It cannot uplift the fossil fuel industry. ? It must foster a diverse and supportive workplace culture. ? IT CAN'T BE DESTROYING THE PLANET. In this day and age, being a big business that continues to prop up the fossil fuel industry is a choice. No matter the level of greenwashing you do, my generation doesn't want a part in it. Today, Reclaim Finance - ONG released a report highlighting that Lloyd's is one of Europe's ONLY major insurers without policies restricting the underwriting of existing and even ?????? coal, oil, and gas developments. As students seeking stable and growth-orientated career paths, getting involved in a company that's the world's leading fossil fuel insurer, isn't something that we can do. As the world's largest insurance marketplace, Lloyd's has the power to drive significant change, if they choose to. I'd want to see: ? Immediately require each managing agent to stop underwriting fossil fuel expansion ? Make sure new managing agents align with the market-wide 2050 net-zero target ? Transparency in annual sustainability reports on the true risk related to new coal, oil and gas developments ? Monitor and transparently report all managing agents' policies on coal, oil and gas with enforcement mechanisms if they don't comply with the one-year deadline Along with students through Insure Tomorrow, I expect more from our future employers. The insurance sector can be future-proof, but things need to change. It's up to you Lloyd's ... You can read the full report here ??https://lnkd.in/eE8HNs8X ??

There is huge opportunity for the insurance industry to attract new talent, but insurers are going about it extremely wrong. It doesn't take a lot of time to look up their strategies for getting Gen Z into insurance work and realise all of it is focused on making a problematic industry *look* more appealing, rather than *making it* more appealing. Companies are entirely banking on TikTok life influencers and glamming it up at careers fairs - thing is it doesn't seem to be working. We know the industry is problematic. So maybe the place to start is by solving the problems we know about: ? Committing to ESG goals and committing to fossil fuel phase-out ? Fixing the toxic culture in insurance (so that it's not stale, pale and male) ? Making the industry less boring by concentrating on insurance with a social benefit, rather than just for the already ultra wealthy That is an insurance industry people would want to work for - not the fake TikTok glam every Gen Z-er can see right through.
Gen Z thinks insurance is too "boring" to work in. Can the industry change their mind? We'll explore this question and more in the latest edition of Finance Wrap-Up UK, your source of financial news and insights written by LinkedIn News UK and Europe editor Manas Pratap Singh.
