?? Congratulations to our current ITE UConn Chapter Treasurer, Syed Islam, on earning his Master’s degree in Civil Engineering! ?? Syed’s thesis, "Networkwide Traffic State Forecasting Using Exogenous Information: A Multi-Dimensional Graph Attention-Based Approach for Transferability", under the guidance of Dr. Monika Filipovska, showcases innovative strides in traffic state forecasting. Syed will continue his PhD journey in the Advanced Mobility Lab at UConn, supervised by Dr. Filipovska, where he’ll further contribute to advancements in transportation research. We’re excited to see all you’ll achieve, Syed! ?? #UConn #ITEUConn #TransportationEngineering #StudentAchievement

?? Congratulations to our ITE members, Saki Rezwana and Mantri Sruthi, on successfully defending their PhD dissertations this semester! ?? Saki's PhD research, "Adapting to Automation: Changes in Pedestrian Behavior in Response to Autonomous Vehicles," and Sruthi's work, "Prioritizing People – Mixed Equilibrium Assignment for Autonomous Vehicles Based on Occupancy," are hoped to make significant contributions to the field of transportation engineering focused on AV research. Dr. Nicholas Lownes provided invaluable guidance as the major advisor for both students. We are proud of your achievements and look forward to seeing the impact of your work in advancing transportation engineering. Well done, Saki and Sruthi! #TransportationEngineering #PhD #AutonomousVehicles #AcademicAchievement #UConnITE

Recently, the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), UCONN Chapter was thrilled to collaborate with Professor Dr. John Ivan in organizing a compelling workshop where Dr. Patricia Tice, PhD, PE, AICP, the owner of ProFound Insights, guided UConn undergraduate students through a creative and practical learning experience. Using Dr. Tice’s BrickCity training modality, which employs LEGO-style buildings and blocks, students tackled real-world street and highway design scenarios. Each team faced unique challenges and came up with their innovative solutions, presenting their thought process and the reasoning behind their choices. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Tice, Dr. Ivan, Dr. Anshu Bamney, and all those involved for making this event possible. We look forward to hosting more exciting and impactful events in the future!

Last week the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), UCONN Chapter hosted a field trip for the undergraduate and graduate students at UConn to visit the Connecticut Transportation Institute. It was a great opportunity for students to meet researchers in the field of transportation engineering and see the incredible research taking place at this institution! From the full vehicle driving simulator to the pavement lab, students were able to see exactly what goes on inside the facility while making valuable connections with the researchers there. We would like to thank Eric Jackson, Anshu Bamney, PhD, and everyone at Connecticut Transportation Institute- UConn for giving us a tour. We look forward to hosting more exciting events!
