About 7 years ago I came across Lisa’s content on Twitter (now known as X) and was intrigued by this lady from Namibia who wasn’t afraid to deliver the truth on matters with so much grace & poise. I loved how she challenged ideologies in such a succinct way. We started following each other & became “Twitter mates”. That friendship graduated to the real adult playground on the internet “LinkedIn” & soon after we became real life friends. Over the course of the years I’ve watched Lisa Matomola grow from being a human capital evangelist to now the CEO of Institute of People Management Namibia. I’ve been with keen interest watching the growth & development of this IPM chapter for several years under the watchful stewardship of my brother Tim Ekandjo who was at the helm for 14 incredible years and whose leadership is second to none. Tim Ekandjo is held in such high regard by our human capital peers in Namibia and he’s really an exceptional figure in this space. And so ofcourse when I heard the news a few months ago that Tim was passing the baton to Lisa I could not contain the unbridled joy I felt at hearing this graceful exchange of leadership. I had the pleasure this last week to speak at the first Institute of People Management Namibia convention in Namibia under Lisa’s leadership and what a privilege it was to stand side by side with Lisa as she takes on her assignment but also spent time with old & new friends in the land of the Brave. Ilke Platt thank you for your hospitality mami it’s always good seeing my strategic partners around the continent when I travel. A hearty congratulations to Lisa & the team for pulling off a remarkable gathering of HR professionals.

Nedbank Namibia wins IPM HR Center of Excellence Award Nedbank Namibia has been awarded the Institute of People Management (IPM) HR Center of Excellence Award of the Year at the 14th Annual IPM Namibia Conference. Last night at the IPM gala dinner, I was named IPM HR Business Partner of the Year. I am truly humbled by this recognition. I give thanks to God for guiding me on my HR journey and shaping the person I am today. A special thanks to the incredible HR team at B2gold. This award is as much yours as it is mine. Heartfelt congratulations to all the other individuals and institutions recognised last night, namely: Commissioner Sam Shivute, Ms. Anselma Haushiku, Mr. Abel Mubita - what a man and what a story! - Mr. Simon Hadula from the Hadula Charity Foundation.
