The Cost-Benefit Scoping Tool for Cycling Infrastructure assesses the economic feasibility of a #cycle lane network with few data inputs. This enables comparison with other potential transport investments and returns.? ? The tool allows cities to make informed decisions for the future, provides a comprehensive estimate of benefits, and reduces risk for investors interested in supporting active mobility projects at-scale.? ? Current research into urban #transport predicts that by 2050, cities will experience 40% less travel by walking, cycling, and urban transport, leading to a massive increase in carbon emissions.? ? Investing in #cycling infrastructure today will not only decrease emissions, but will also result in improved air quality, lower healthcare costs, reduced congestion, safer streets, and more vibrant communities. We had an incredible time at #WUF hosting different teams and organisations in Cairo. ITDP has been working in Cairo to implement the bikeshare system, supporting the implementation of bike lanes in down town Cairo and planning for the BRT system. In addition the team recently worked on an a national NMT Strategy to support walking and cycling in the city. Our team participated in various sessions promoting non-motorises transport infrastructure while also highlighting key examples from around the world.
