?? Robots are becoming an increasingly present force in our daily lives. The way they look—and the impact their appearance has on us—has been explored by Japanese roboticist Masahiro Mori through the concept of the #UncannyValley.
At Institute for the Future’s immersive show, they shared a bold forecast for the next decade. Here’s a glimpse into the future:
1?? There will be more AI bots than humans.
2?? AI will be able to translate any idea across languages, disciplines, or formats.
3?? AI will transform our relationship with resources.
4?? In an AI-soaked world, human interactions will become a premium.
If these trends materialize, they will profoundly reshape our societies. The fourth forecast is the one that concerns me the most.
Human interaction is no longer the default—it’s becoming a premium. The example of the chatting cashier in Switzerland (?? Migros Chat Checkout) is both a great and necessary initiative, but also a symptom of a worrying trend. We assume and accept that humans facilitate transactions, yet we no longer assume that they will socially interact. Slowly, human connection is turning into a luxury.
As technology advances and automation expands, will meaningful human interaction become an exclusive privilege?
How do we ensure that humanity remains at the center of technological progress?
What conditions must be in place so that AI enhances not just efficiency, but
also the richness of human experience?
Curious to hear your thoughts—let’s discuss. ??
Thank you to Toshi Anders Hoo Dylan Hendricks for sharing your insights!
Congrats to the team at Swissnex in San Francisco Diego Riva for making it happen!
