We invest in scientific research because we want returns — in knowledge, in lifesaving drugs, in technological capability. Twitter/X has been alight recently with debate about the H-1B visa program, with some of President Trump's biggest supporters taking different sides. But even the staunchest immigration advocates will admit that the program needs reform. In a WSJ op-ed today, Jeremy Neufeld from IFP – Institute for Progress outlines some actionable ideas to improve the H-1B program that would: - Boost US GDP by $1.1 trillion - Increase the average H-1B wage by 41% - Bolster the value of the program even without increasing the number of visas issued

New ETI report | ETI is excited to share its latest publication on high-skilled immigration in defense. In collaboration with Jeremy Neufeld (IFP – Institute for Progress), ETI and IFP’s research focused on current challenges facing the DoD and DIB STEM workforce as well as illustrating the role of foreign-born STEM talent in both defense and the U.S.’ overall S&T enterprise. The report proposes potential paths forward for better harnessing the U.S.’ position as a desired location for international STEM talent.
