?? Excited to share my Building Baselines interview with Calico Energy! I'm always energized by my conversations with the team at Calico, and this time we dove into utility-building policy intersections, community engagement in building performance standards, and why the cheapest fuel is still the one you don't use in our efforts to rapidly decarbonize. ?? Key themes: ?? Bringing community voices into "technical" policy design ?? Balancing climate urgency with equity ?? Making BPS work through utility program support ?? The case for efficient electrification Plus some reflections on my journey from utility regulatory affairs to nonprofit advocacy (including my iconic paper mache CFL hat ??). Check it out! https://lnkd.in/gVMc6rsC

In tribute to David Goldstein, our founding board member and colleague who passed away last week. In 2019, David wrote an article for the Natural Resources Defense Council, exploring the tension between recognizing our societal shortcomings in effectively addressing the climate crisis while at the same time maintaining a hopeful perspective on what we can—and must—still accomplish. For David, this tension presents itself with a unique opportunity for progress. "This sober recognition of reality is not intended to provoke despair, but rather resolve to do better," he says. Offering key strategic recommendations to capitalize on this opportunity, with energy efficiency as its foundation, David’s words are still a powerful call to action.
