According to a 2024 #RutgersCamden Campus Climate Survey, undergraduate students enrolled in a STEM major are ???????? ???????????? ???? ?????????????? ???????????????? ?????????????? ???????????????? than the general undergraduate student population. According to the survey, STEM students request assistance with study habits, exam skills, writing skills, and more at higher rates than the general student population. ?? These findings highlight the importance of targeted support systems to ensure that #STEM students are prepared for academic and career success. ???????????????????? ?????????????? ?????????????????? of existing support services and ?????????????? ???? ?????????? ?????? ?????????????? ???????? are vital to improving students’ academic performance. ?? This mission to provide effective and expansive support services was a driving force for the E3 Student Leader (E3SL) program, ?????????? ???????????????? ?????????????????????????? ???????????????? ???????????????? ???? ?? ???????? ?????????? ???????? ?????????????? ?????????????? ???????????????????? to meet the unique needs of this student population. Incoming first-time, first-year undergraduate students can apply to get the hands-on experience and leadership training that they need to be successful in their STEM major and beyond. ?? The E3SL program provides incoming undergraduate students who are planning to pursue a STEM degree with numerous resources and leadership opportunities for academic, professional, and career development. Thank you to everyone who was in attendance at our ????-???????? ?????????? yesterday! ?? The inaugural event served as a platform for faculty across all four Rutgers chancellor-led units to discuss perspectives on ???????????? ?????? ?????????????????? ???????????????????? ?????? ?????????????????? ??????????????????. We were delighted to hear from all of our speakers who discussed strategies to recognize and incentivize contributions to inclusive education and excellence. ?? A huge thank you to our keynote speaker, Dr. Heather P. Tarleton, who joined us virtually from Loyola Marymount University. Heather, who serves as the Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs and Professional Development, shared with us the process of implementing a tenure and promotion package that ???????????????????? ?????????????? ?????????????? ?????????????????????????? at LMU. Dr. Tarleton’s insights on strategies for recognizing inclusive excellence work were greatly appreciated by all in attendance. ??? We also want to thank all of our panel members who served as representatives from various Rutgers units, Dr. BRIGITTE CYPRESS, Dr. Zorimar Rivera Nú?ez, PhD, and Dr. Zaire Dinzey-Flores. These panelists’ understanding of the Rutgers environment is incredibly important in thinking about these promotion strategies. Having representatives from across campuses demonstrates the ???????????? ?????? ?????????????????? ?????????????? ?????????????????? that exists at Rutgers University. ?? Finally, we want to take the time to express our gratitude to Chancellor Antonio D. Tillis, who delivered the closing remarks of the event. The 2025 Forum, titled ???????????????????? ???????????? ?????? ?????????????????? ?????????????????? ????????????????????, will discuss university policy on tenure and promotion evaluation for inclusive education. ?? The E3-STEM Forum will be hosted on the Camden campus and broadcasted virtually.
