For the first time in a few years, I got to be back behind the scenes of an IEI event- this last weekend’s NYSLOC cohort. Of course, when I started this whole journey, I did everything at our events. The 1:1 meeting matching algorithm was a spreadsheet, combined with my brain and adrenaline on an all night bender. As we grew, we learned, we built a team of amazing people who started to differentiate into different skill sets and areas of expertise. This past year has been a year full of unique learning, to say the least. The thing we’ve always done here is learn and evolve. The only thing that remains constant is change. We end 2024 with the industry’s first ever ed tech startup pitch competition judged by superintendents. We begin 2025 with a laser focus: 3 (instead of 4) National superintendent summits- summer, late fall/winter, and spring. 3 regionals- IN, MI, and GA 4 District Leader Connect Summits for all district leaders, organized around problems of practice in IT/tech, Mental Health, HR, comms/PR. We hope to do 6 in 2026. Fewer events, more focus on each. It’s going to be an exciting year for us. But we never get here without the amazing people I’ve had the privilege to work with over the years.
