Designing a wildfire-resistant property is possible, and can be affordable with a range of available style and material options to meet your aesthetic. ?? A study from the?Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety - IBHS?and?Headwaters Economics?found that for as little as $3,000 homeowners can build new homes that address vulnerabilities to wildfires. ?? Likewise, there are also affordable mitigation actions to retrofit existing homes. An analysis from?California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE)?and Headwaters found retrofitting costs can be as low as $2,000, depending on the existing home.
