Our community is filled with incredible human beings: accomplished, positive, curious and supportive. The name “Bend Reality” refers to the fundamental truth that each one of us can bend our own reality by re-examining the conclusions and beliefs we have formed during our life experience so far. Very few of these are factual or objective; they are a byproduct of what other people think, such as our parents, friends, siblings, neighbors, teachers, employers and leaders. My dad, uncle and cousin came to visit in the jungle! Our dog Princesa insisted on coming fishing with us. Princesa is the original Otorongo. She’s been here since the main house was built in 2014. In one of my Ayahuasca ceremonies 9 years ago, I saw a map of South America with a cross-hairs over the top left part of it. That's exactly where my retreat centre is now... I also saw the name "Auvray". I didn't know what it meant but drew the map and wrote the name in my journal. ━━ Fast forward to 2021. I left my job and bought the retreat centre. When I first got to the jungle, I spent some time living with the previous owners, Chris and Paul. While I was there, they got a call from the guy who built it in the first place and sold it to them, his name is Alex. Alex is from France and followed his calling to the jungle to learn to become an Ayahuasquero. ━━ Alex and his family were coming to the village and asked Chris and Paul if they could stay at the retreat centre. It would be nostalgic for them. They told him he needed to ask me since I'd be the new owner. Of course, I told him they were welcome to stay as long as they needed. ━━ That's when I found out Alex's last name was "Auvray"... Wild, right? I had a vision in an Ayahuasca ceremony 7 years before that showed me the exact location on the map and the last name of the guy who built it... And that was before the place was even fully built... ━━ There's more to the universe than we think. Follow your heart, even if you don't know where it's leading you. A lot of people think meditation is about clearing your mind, but it’s actually about training your mind to focus and refocus. Here’s why this matters: Your brain’s main goal is to keep you alive, so it’s constantly warning you about potential threats ?? While helpful in certain situations, this survival mode causes distractions we don’t always need. Here are three simple steps to improve your focus through meditation: 1. Start Small: Set aside just 5-10 minutes a day. Find a quiet spot, focus on your breath, and let your thoughts come and go. 2. Refocus Gently: Each time you notice your mind wandering, just bring your focus back to your breath. This helps train your brain to stay on task. 3. Use It Throughout Your Day: When you feel overwhelmed at work, pause for a moment and take three deep breaths to reset your focus and get back on track. After years of practicing and studying mindfulness, I’ve experienced firsthand how meditation rewires the brain for better focus. Research shows it strengthens the prefrontal cortex, the part of the brain responsible for decision-making and attention. Just like lifting weights builds muscle ???? meditation trains your brain ?? to handle distractions and refocus. Give it a try, just 10 minutes a day can make a difference! Cannabis is a master teacher, like Ayahuasca. I've always felt this. But when I asked Don Roldán if I could bring it into ceremony, he wasn’t sure. 85 years old. Maestro Ayahuasquero. Over 60 years of experience. “Una droga?” (A drug), he asked. At first, I felt discouraged. Then I heard a voice inside, 'just tell him the truth'. I told him it’s medicine. A teacher plant, like Ayahuasca. He and Do?a Gertrudis felt into it. Then they agreed: “Está bien, está bien.” They drank their cup. The candle went out. The icaros began. I smoked. No Aya for me that night. Just cannabis. The ceremony was incredible. I flowed with the spirit of cannabis the way I've done for years. The next morning, Don Roldán told me: “You are full of medicine." He saw me as pure white light with two blue orbs of energy beside me. "You have really strong guardians." "And this smelly plant you smoked, I saw beautiful visions in the smoke. When I smelled it, my body felt good." He laughed. He acknowledged that cannabis is a master plant like Ayahuasca. This moment was so special for me. Validation from him was like getting Yoda’s approval on what I’ve spent my life exploring. Every time I see him now, he brings up cannabis. He’s never left the jungle, and it's not from there, but now he respects its medicine. Cannabis is as powerful as Ayahuasca. It comes down to how you work with it.
