We champion accessibility in the e-learning industry.
关于我们
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) are the most official source of guidance on how to make electronic communications accessible. However, those standards aren’t written specifically for e-learning. Artisan E-Learning, ELB Learning, and SweetRush have created a checklist to help you “translate” how the WCAG standards apply to e-learning development.

Boosting this great work.
It's finally here!!! Proud to have been part of this collaboration with Disability:IN, Noun Project, Canva and SVA MFA Interaction Design. The Accessibility Icon Collection is a free, open to the public, and will help creators around the world increase authentic and affirming disability representation in design. Deeply grateful to Lindsay Stuart for the collaboration and to my team members Alex Clem and Paul Slack Ciaccia for making this possible. ??

Thank you Meryl Evans, CPACC (deaf) for the detailed explanation.

??? Time for the annual post on a bad habit that's still happening in captions / subtitles. It's not progress over perfection. It's a step backward. First, the best captions are always the user's preference. Not all platforms offer captioning options. So, the next step is to rely on best practices like this one tip. It's been two years since I talked about this. And it's still prevalent. I see it on streaming. I see it on syndication. I see it on newer shows. These are recorded programs, not live. Live is a different ballgame. Only one big thing changed from the early days of captioning. The captioners switched from ALL CAPS to sentence case. That's because sentence case is more readable than uppercase for many. (No absolutes here. There are a few folks who prefer ALL CAPS in captions.) Let's look at an example with my name. (FYI: I'm not related to Meryl Streep. ??) MERYL Meryl All caps show zero shape variation. MERYL has a flat top edge and a flat bottom edge. That's it. No change in shape. It's like a rectangle block. Meryl shows three variations on the top: - Once for the M - Once for e, r, y, - Once for the l (little L). Meryl also has three variations on the bottom: - Once before the y - Once for the y itself - Once after the y Visual differences in mixed case captions boost readability. The lack of visual differences in all caps adds friction to the reading experience. Besides, a lot of people feel like they're being yelled at when no yelling is happening. People with disabilities and no disabilities struggle with uppercase captions. Please use sentence case captions. This includes Instagram and other social media networks. One of the options there is all caps and it's animated. This isn't a good option. It's the default that most people use. #Captioned ?? Follow this and use it when you post captioned videos to expand your reach! ?? Tap the profile bell to catch the next post ?? #MerylMots for more ?? We are hosting focus groups to learn more about what others are thinking and doing relative to accessibility and to explore what we might be able to do together. If you’re interested, we’re hosting two sessions in October to share what we’ve done and explore how we can expand our reach by working with people like you. Will you join us on October 22, 2024, at 11:00 am ET or October 23, 2024, at 11:00 am ET? Consider this a place to learn more. There’s no commitment, and you don’t have to prepare a thing! Send Amy Morrisey a direct message or respond below to let us know which works best, and we'll add you to the meeting invitation. #Accessibilty #AccessibleLearning #ELBLearning #ArtisanLearning #SweetRush
