????Continuing Our Remembrance of George Foreman??? A true legend—in and out of the ring. We have been deeply saddened by the passing of George Foreman, a proud Job Corps alum whose extraordinary life journey continues to inspire generations. After leaving high school in Houston and facing adversity as a youth, George entered President Lyndon B. Johnson’s Job Corps program—a decision that would forever change his life. He attended Fort Vannoy Job Corps in Oregon and later Parks Job Corps in California, where he found the structure and support that set him on a new path. It was through Job Corps that George discovered his potential, found discipline, and began a path of transformation. He went on to earn Olympic gold, become a two-time world heavyweight boxing champion, and later a wildly successful entrepreneur, with the iconic George Foreman Grill reaching millions of homes. Yet beyond the fame, he remained a humble and generous man—a minister, mentor, and father figure to many, deeply committed to giving back and empowering others to overcome their circumstances, just as he did. George honored the program that changed his life by presenting a plaque to President Lyndon B. Johnson’s family during Job Corps' 50th Anniversary, thanking him for creating the program and believing in young people like himself. More recently, NJCA was honored to have George Foreman send a heartfelt video message for our 60th Anniversary celebration of Job Corps last summer—demonstrating his continued commitment and belief in the power of this life-changing program over so many years. From troubled beginnings to a legacy rooted in faith, family, and perseverance, George Foreman was not just a champion in the ring—he was a champion of second chances, resilience, and the American Dream. He is survived by his wife, Mary Joan Martelly, and 11 of his 12 children, including five sons named George. Rest in power, Champ. Your legacy lives on in every young person who believes that with support and opportunity, they too can rise.??? #JobCorps #GeorgeForeman #Legacy #InMemoriam #FromOpportunityToSuccess #Champion #AmericanDream #RestInPower #RIP #NJCA #JobCorps60 #BigGeorge
