    One month ago, we introduced you to Jimmy Routzon. This week, he shared with us that he has found his next role. Congratulations to Jimmy and shout out to all those who help by networking, elevating, and supporting job seekers like Jimmy. Here's what Jimmy had to say about how he got his wings. "After blasting out dozens of resumes in the first 3-4 weeks after being laid off, I realized pretty quickly that was going nowhere, so I shifted to networking. Instead of sending out 5 resumes per day, I'd contact 5 people I hadn't talked to in a while. Also i joined ICN which raised my profile a bit. During all of that a recruiter from SBI Advisory found me and reached out. We had a few mutual connections. The interview process took a while and was fairly tough, but I put in the homework to wow them and it paid off with a great offer for a company with a 4.2 glassdoor rating!"

    What are you hoping to see at next week’s Quirk's Event in Chicago? ?? Here’s what’s on my radar: 1?? More real (PRACTICAL) talk on AI and synthetic data. We’ve heard the theories. Now I want to see how it’s actually being used. Let's see/hear the demos, the case studies, the experiments, the failures, the lessons learned... (Are there actually any of these when it comes to synthentic respondents?!? ??) 2?? Weird and wonderful case studies. You know the kind—unexpected, slightly out-there, but totally fascinating. The kind that makes you rethink your assumptions. Jason Jacobson did something like this at Quirk's LA a few weeks back. More of that, please. 3?? Clarity on the chaos. There are some seriously confusing trends in the insights world and the overall consumer landscape right now. I’m hoping for some true thought leadership—people who can cut through the noise and help us make sense of where we’re heading. 4?? Lighter, more engaging presentations. Research doesn’t have to be dry. Let’s bring some energy to the stage. It’s okay to have fun and be insightful. 5?? A deeper look at the supplier-buyer dynamic. I learned a ton from Jon Kay’s session at Quirk’s LA—more of that would be fantastic. The better we understand each other, the better we all work. 6?? Support for those in career transitions. From what we're hearing at the Insights Career Network, so many folks in our industry are still navigating layoffs or exploring new paths. It would be amazing if Quirk's Media can dedicate some sessions that speak directly to those challenges. People (even those currently employed) could benefit from actionable advice, IMHO! 7?? A spotlight on the respondent experience. Let’s not forget—our entire industry depends on the people answering our surveys. I’d love to see more conversation (and innovation) around how we engage them. Show me the tech, tactics, and techniques that actually make participation feel worthwhile. 8?? Real talk on data quality. Survey fraud and bots aren’t just annoyances—they’re one of the biggest threats to the integrity of our work. We need actionable strategies, not just vague claims from sample providers. (I SAID WHAT I SAID! ??) Let’s get into the weeds and talk about practical, measurable solutions. 9?? New faces, real conversations. Let’s be honest—the hallway chats, coffee line convos, and happy hour drinks are often the best part of any #insights conference. Ideas ?? connections.     Sign o’ the times? (Apologies to Prince) I’m in Tampa for an in-person qual project (yup they still happen! #facetofaceresearch) staying in a hotel that’s part of a large office building. Looking out my window I see 80% completely vacant offices, and some with limited activity. I wonder how much of it is work from home policies and how much is businesses just being out of business? Don’t know the stats but while I read that many businesses are going hybrid or even five days back in the office, most of these offices are just plain empty. I’ve been talking with research companies and independent researchers to get a feel for what’s happening in the economy and it’s very mixed, anecdotally. Insights Career Network has definitely seen an uptick in job seekers joining. Curious what anyone else is hearing. PS all this empty space reminds me of the offices George Clooney and Anna Kendrick would visit to fire people in “Up in The Air”. I mean to provide “employee termination assistance”. ??
