ESG is dead. Long live ESG. With all the chaos around—DEI and climate programs getting cut, Europe rethinking regulations—there’s plenty of uncertainty, and everyone asking if this is the beginning of the end for ESG & sustainability. It is not. It’s just the next stage. Time to repost my Sustainability Maturity Curve. All the backpedaling doesn’t mean sustainability is collapsing, it’s rather stripping away the hype. Efforts driven by branding or public sentiment are disappearing because they don’t hold up. Big promises without substance were never built to last. What stays is what creates real business value. So sustainability initiatives won’t die. What WILL happen:??? Smaller, stronger sustainability teams—fewer junior roles, more expertise??? Sustainability goals tied directly to business needs and customer demands??? CSOs doubling down on efficiency, tech, and ROI—no value, no budget ?? Less noise, more action—greenhushing replacing greenwashing What won’t work anymore: sustainability initiatives that exist for goodwill and branding.? What will thrive: solutions that drive immediate, measurable value. This is the real test. And for those building solutions with business impact at the core, this is the moment. Sirius
