Why inplay.ai Has No Human Traders: The way most operators work is to use a large team of people to manage lines, odds and risk. As detailed in a recent Wall Street Journal article, these human traders react to events in a game, such as a player scoring a touchdown, and adjust the lines or odds accordingly, to manage returns and risk. At Inplay.ai, we purposely don’t have any human traders. We believe that artificial intelligence can manage at a? scale and speed that humans can’t. For live, in-play micro markets, we are offering new unique markets every second during a game based on changing conditions. That means we are offering up to 6 million unique markets per day. So it’s impossible for human traders to manage lines, odds and games—especially as you scale to more markets and more sports. Since in-play markets are changing every second, AI can manage odds, lines and risk in a way that humans can’t. ? https://lnkd.in/dXMrDEds https://lnkd.in/dikkHS2J #ai #artificialintelligence #sportsbusiness #sportsgaming

Correlation in NFL games is a surprisingly complex topic. It may seem simple to understand: when a quarterback throws a touchdown, the receiver’s yards or touchdowns also increase. Other offensive players are also correlated. But it’s more complicated than that. Correlation is an important factor in same game parlays, in which people select multiple players from the same game or same team. Operators need to adjust their lines and odds to account for the increased or decreased chance of correlated events. Pricing based on correlation is important in every sport. Without this, winnings will not reflect the underlying risk of a parlay of multiple players: it won’t be accurate. Overall there’s a significant amount of correlation in National Football League games, but it’s not evenly distributed. HotStreak's data science team has poured over every possible combination of players. The result: many combinations of players have no correlation. But there are some that have a significant amount of correlation. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dkd7WFS3 #sportsgaming #sportsbusiness #correlation #ai #sportstechnology #artificialintelligence

Our esports offering is unique in the industry—with more markets and unrestricted same game selections. That’s the result of a deep stack of technology and machine learning under the hood to manage a complex and unique esports market. There are two major differences in what we offer: We?have more markets: kills, assists, deaths, creep score, double kills, triple kills, quadra kills, penta kills and are always adding more. Others offer kills and sometimes fantasy points. Secondly, we offer unrestricted same game selections (what are sometimes known as accumulators) in esports, while others do not offer them or have heavy restrictions on combinations of players offered in the same game. We have no restrictions on the number of players in a game and our payouts reflect this. Some others offer 2 players per team max. One reason we’re able to offer unrestricted esports same game parlays is correlation. Correlation is well understood for traditional sports by customers and gaming operators. However, in esports, correlation is much less well understood for several reasons. For one, it’s relatively new and has received less attention than the major pro sports. Also, correlation in esports is deeper, wider and more complex than in traditional sports. In League of Legends for example, there is a relationship between virtually every player and every stat pair in a match. Artificial intelligence is driving transformation across a number of industries from self-driving cars to internet search engines. While many operators are using human traders to manage markets, inPlay.ai has taken a different approach. We’re managing all of our markets using machine learning and artificial intelligence. We’re using technology assisted by humans rather than the other way around. To manage risk better, we’ve built a technology product we call Icarus. This product manages risk across all our markets and games. It handles individual markets and games to ensure that there is not too much risk on a particular market or game, and it adjusts those lines and odds automatically. Also, Icarus manages overall risk across sports and markets—taking a holistic view of all the risk that our company is holding. Then it adjusts accordingly to keep risk at levels that are appropriate. While some other companies may not have a clear handle on all the risk that they are holding, Icarus allows us to automatically manage that risk.
