'Tis the season where we tend to spend more than usual on food, travel, and gifts, and it can add up quickly. Here are a few simple ways to prepare for the holidays: - Creating a Holiday Budget and breaking it down by each person you plan to shop for keeps your organized. This approach helps you set clear spending goals. You can jot this down manually or use an app like "Christmas Budget Planner" to track your purchases, monitor your spending, and see how much remains for each person. It's an effective way to stay within your budget. - Using a monthly budgeting app like "Every Dollar" (free version) can help you organize your expected expenses, such as bills and groceries, and track your progress throughout the month (or you can use our IWB Budget Worksheet). - Set up a Holiday Savings Account for next year. By contributing to it monthly throughout the year, you can spread out the cost of holiday expenses, making it easier to manage. #holidays #blackfriday #christmasshopping #budget #tistheseason #hanukkah #kwanzaa #travel #christmas #santascoming

Many people are wondering how this election will impact the economy and their overall finances. Here's a list of possibilities based on Donald Trump's campaign promises: - Tariffs on Imports- with the intention of bringing production back to the US, this may inflate prices on foreign and domestic goods- especially on things with little domestic competition like electronics and steel. Things like wine may not be impacted as much. - US Oil Drilling- with the intention of driving down inflation, Trump plans to use more US oil. Given gas companies do not attempt to increase profit margins (as they have this year), you may see lower gas prices at the tanks. - Tax Cuts- with the intention of bringing back his 2017 tax cuts for corporations, Trump added eliminating taxes on tips and social security benefits as main promises this campaign. This could reduce prices and/or increase profit margins depending on the reaction of large corporations. The hope would be for that money to trickle down to workers and stimulate spending. However, these cuts could also raise the national debt. - Social Security Protections- with the intention to keep seniors' benefits the same, Trump has vowed to do so and not raise the retirement age. Given this happens, benefits and costs for seniors could remain stable. The market responded to the election results yesterday. Take a look at your investments to see how they have been impacted if you haven't done so already. #election #electionresults #finances #economy #economicimpact #socialsecurity #taxes
