Job Description: Research Associate
Innatrix, Inc., (Research Triangle Park, North Carolina) is a fast-moving biopesticide startup that is providing growers with eco-friendly, alternative means of crop protection through our proprietary peptide & RNAi delivery technology platform.?To date, the company has secured over $4M capital and non-dilutive funds, two U.S. patents and three pending patent applications.
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled research scientist (intern) to join our dynamic research team focused on controlling plant pathogens and nematodes. The ideal candidate will have relevant field or equivalent lab experience, with a strong background in biological sciences and a passion for agtech product development, exploring the intricacies of plant-pathogen/pest interactions, molecular biology, and protein expression in E. coli. The intern will contribute to ongoing projects aimed at advancing our biological product development, research work on plant health, disease mechanisms, and mitigation strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
·???????Prepare and maintain plants and pathogens or pests for experimental purposes.
·???????Maintain microbial cultures to support various experimental studies.
·???????Conduct DNA/RNA extractions, PCR, qPCR, and protein gel electrophoresis.
·???????Assist in the development and optimization of protocols for protein expression, purification, and analysis.
·???????Collaborate with researchers to collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data accurately and effectively.
·???????Maintain accurate and detailed records of experimental procedures, results, and observations.
·???????Contribute to biological product development, such as field trial preparation, product manufacturing and formulation, regulatory study assistance.
·???????Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free laboratory environment.
·???????Contribute to the preparation of research reports and presentations.
Qualifications:
?????????????????????Pursuing a degree in Biological Sciences, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Plant Pathology, or a related field. Equivalent laboratory experience will also be considered.
?????????????????????Practical experience working with plants, plant pathogens, plant pests, or microbes in a laboratory setting is highly desirable.
?????????????????????Proficiency in a wide range of laboratory techniques, including DNA/RNA manipulation, PCR, protein gel electrophoresis, and protein expression and purification.
?????????????????????Familiarity with sterile techniques and aseptic culture methods.
?????????????????????Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
?????????????????????Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a research team.
