Many school districts have developed Portraits of Graduate (POGs), which define the skills students need for life and career success (e.g. critical thinking, collaboration, adaptability). But turning these profiles into everyday classroom practice? That’s where things get tricky. Teachers already juggle standards, assessments, and diverse student needs. Adding another layer can feel overwhelming. So how do schools move from vision to action? A few strategies can help: 1. Embed the profile into existing lessons - Instead of treating it as something extra, weave its competencies into what teachers already do. 2. Use performance-based assessments - Portfolios, presentations, and real-world projects let students demonstrate these skills in meaningful ways. 3. Provide teacher support - Workshops, planning time, and shared best practices make implementation smoother. 4. Leverage AI and planning tools - The right technology can help teachers align lessons with the profile without extra workload. Portraits of a Graduate are powerful. But without a clear path to the classroom, they risk becoming just another document. Schools that successfully implement them give students a real advantage—preparing them not just for graduation, but for life. Looking for a way to make this process easier? Inkwire helps schools bring graduate profiles to life in the classroom. #EducationInnovation #ProjectBasedLearning #PortraitsOfAGraduate #POGS #GraduateProfiles #StudentSuccess #FutureReady #Competencies #CBE

We just kicked off an exciting co-design partnership with Design Tech High School at Oracle. We get to work with an awesome group 10th graders to help shape the student-facing version of our project design tool. Props to Maxwell Cady for thoughtfully structuring this opportunity in a way that will greatly benefit us (and the 10+ other companies involved!) and hopefully be a meaningful learning experience for the students.
