Another forte of the InkSpace Imaging Snuggle 24-channel 3T MR coil is pediatric body imaging. When additional lateral coverage is needed, Snuggle pads can be placed adjacent to each other in either the left/right or superior/inferior direction. The Snuggle is compatible with a wide variety of conventional vendor coils including the under table coil elements that can be simultaneously selected for posterior coverage. The example pediatric body images below acquired on a 5 year old demonstrate the versatility of how the Snuggle can be combined with other coils. In this case, two Snuggle pads were placed anteriorly and adjacent in the superior/inferior direction with multiple sections of the under table coil simultaneously activated for receive. Pediatric cardiac MRI was the original use case for the InkSpace Imaging Snuggle 24-channel 3T MR coil, where it excels by providing high SNR and the ability to accelerate scan times. A perfect example of the need for higher spatial resolution and faster acquisition is 4D flow to evaluate congenital heart disease. Below are anatomical planar images and 4D flow color overlays on 3D reconstructions of an 11-month-old with?interrupted aortic arch type B with severe subaortic stenosis who underwent norwood sano repair. The Snuggle coil enabled a nearly 40% scan time reduction (Hyperkat 5x to 8x) from 17 minutes 17 seconds down to 10 minutes 36 seconds with no significant difference in image quality while maintaining comparable flow measurements and stroke volumes with the reference approach using a vendor supplied 16-channel coil. The same 4D flow scan can also be used to generate beautiful 3D visualizations of the cardiac vascular?anatomy. The?InkSpace Imaging Snuggle 3T MR coil excels at pediatric imaging. Its super flexibility allows it to contour closely to even the smallest anatomy such as the wrist and elbow of a 2 year old captured?in the images below. Both coronal T1 scans have an in-plane spatial resolution of 200 microns. The wrist has a slice thickness of 2.0 mm, and the elbow has a slice thickness of 3.0 mm. High spatial resolution with high SNR is no problem with the Snuggle coil. Another example of the versatility of the InkSpace Imaging super flexible 3T MR coil: up to four pads can be connected at once to enable innovative scan setups such as bilateral knee imaging with two pads wrapped snugly around each knee. Below are example coronal proton density fat suppressed images of the right and left knees each acquired with a?0.4 mm x 0.4 mm x 2.5 mm voxel size as two separate 40-slice sequences?in?4 min 58 s. Typically SNR starved, high SNR for this fat suppressed sequence is generated by the dense array of small coil elements (12 channels per pad) that contour to the anatomy to be as close to the patient as possible. Please note that when switching?from a unilateral dedicated Tx/Rx knee coil, some protocol changes are advisable to account for the B1 transmit capabilities of the scanner's integrated body coil and also the need to avoid fold-over artifacts.
