The first Albedo SpaceDrop is a success???? We have checked off yet another commissioning milestone and successfully completed our first on-orbit software update for Clarity-1. This first SpaceDrop increases Clarity-1's performance, a key upgrade to our system for sensor and imagery calibration. On-orbit software upgrades are exceedingly tricky and hard to get right. From the start, Clarity-1 was designed with this capability built in, so updates in orbit would be as standard as any other device update - allowing our software teams to iterate and double down on Clare’s capabilities throughout her mission. The team executed this update effortlessly and right on schedule. Stay tuned for more updates on Clarity-1!

Last week, we announced the opening of the Valar Atomics Research Institute alongside US Ambassador MaryKay Carlson, International Security and Nonproliferation Deputy Ann Ganzer, and Philippine Assistant Secretary of Foreign Affairs Jose Chan-Gonzaga at the US Embassy in Manila. VARI’s mission is to develop nuclear energy for the Philippines, a critical US ally, while helping to promote hands-on nuclear education. Our first project is Ward One, a 100kW demonstration reactor developed in partnership with the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute. This partnership builds on the success of the PNRI’s PRR-1 SATER reactor program, and the subsequent Nuclear Cooperation Treaty signed by our two governments. We’re grateful for the work of the US State Department and Philippine counterparts to rapidly make this project a reality. I’d also like to extend our gratitude to EōS Organization for their support of the PNSF, PNRI, and nuclear workforce development in partnership with Mindinao State University, paving the way for a world-class nuclear workforce and education program in the Philippines. Over the next few years, VARI will invest over PHP1,000,000,000 in nuclear development in the Philippines, beginning with Ward One. VARI’s ultimate goal is build upon the Ward One demonstrator to foster commercial nuclear energy in the Philippines and provide stable, clean power. We’re excited to bring this partnership to life!
