It's been one year since we opened UofL Health - South Hospital, which filled an access gap in Kentucky’s 10th-most populous county, allowing patients from Bullitt County, south Jefferson County and the surrounding area to get their care closer to home. Here's a look at the impact South Hospital has made for in Year 1. ???ULHealth.co/43Ssraz

Say hi to Mary Kelly, Production Manager at INgrid Design. She keeps complex, multi-year projects on track and enjoys collaborating directly with clients to bring their ideas to life. She also values working with a team that’s always ready to jump in and support each other, making even the busiest days rewarding. Outside of work, Mary loves relaxing on her screened-in porch with a good book, going on walks with her husband and their rescue pup, Maggie Mae (a delightful mix of over 20 breeds!), and working on diamond art while listening to true crime podcasts. A lifelong animal lover, she spent years showing Quarter Horses—earning national and state awards—before transitioning to dog shows and, eventually, life as a full-time soccer parent. Her favorite travel memories include trips to Italy and the south of France, and she hopes to explore even more in the future.

Meet Amos Dreisbach, Project Manager at INgrid Design. He’s all about keeping projects on track and making things run smoothly. Whether it’s untangling a workflow issue or figuring out a more efficient way to get things done, he enjoys the challenge of bringing order to creative chaos. Outside of work, Amos is always on the move—literally. He started running in 2024 and now spends much of his free time training for his next milestone. Up next: the Kentucky Derby Festival Mini Marathon in April. When he’s not pounding the pavement, you’ll probably find him at the movies. A dedicated film buff, he watches more than 200 movies a year and keeps close tabs on contemporary cinema, from indie gems to box office hits. Amos also loves spending time with his wife, whether they’re checking out new restaurants, keeping up with Survivor, or visiting their favorite local breweries with friends. At home, their two cats, Beatrice and Milo?, keep things entertaining. His ideal vacation? Anywhere with a waterfall to hike to. His least favorite food? Grapefruit. And a fun fact: before joining INgrid Design, Amos directed theatre in New York City—including two Off-Broadway productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

In the 1890s, Ethel Reed emerged as one of America’s first celebrated female poster designers, gaining recognition for her bold, Art Nouveau-inspired book covers and advertisements. Working with publishers like Houghton Mifflin, she blended intricate illustration with striking typography, helping to shape the visual language of commercial design. At a time when few women held creative authority in publishing, Reed’s success was groundbreaking. Yet, after moving to Europe, she vanished from public life, leaving behind a legacy that was nearly forgotten. Today, her work stands as a reminder of the overlooked pioneers who helped shape modern design. #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackDesigners

Thomas Miller shaped the way we see brands—literally. As one of the few Black designers in corporate America during the mid-20th century, he played a crucial role in defining the visual identity of major companies, including 7UP. His work on the brand’s iconic packaging and advertising helped usher in a sleek, modern aesthetic that became a hallmark of American commercial design. Miller was part of Morton Goldsholl Associates, a Chicago-based design firm known for pioneering branding work in the 1960s and beyond. His contributions extended beyond soda, influencing corporate identity systems, film titles, and advertising campaigns. At a time when Black designers were largely excluded from mainstream recognition, Miller’s work spoke for itself—his ability to blend form, function, and innovation set a new standard in branding. #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackDesigners

In the 1960s and ’70s, art became a tool for revolution, and Barbara Jones-Hogu was at the forefront. A pioneering artist and designer of the Black Arts Movement, she was a founding member of AfriCOBRA (African Commune of Bad Relevant Artists), a collective that sought to uplift and empower Black communities through visual storytelling. Her screen prints, including the iconic Unite (1971), used bold typography, striking imagery, and Afrocentric themes to inspire social change. AfriCOBRA’s signature aesthetic—vibrant colors, rhythmic compositions, and positive messages—defined a new visual language that celebrated Black identity. Jones-Hogu’s work wasn’t just about art; it was about activism, representation, and cultural pride. Though she was often overlooked in mainstream art history, her contributions remain a powerful testament to the role of design in movements for justice and equality. #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackDesigners
