Indiana University Bloomington is a member of the team selected this week?by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to launch the new Semiconductor Manufacturing and Advanced Research with Twins USA (#SMARTUSA) Institute! Led by the Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC) and poised to receive $285 million in federal funding, the SMART USA Institute will develop, validate, and use virtual, computer-generated models, known as “digital twins,” to improve domestic semiconductor design, manufacturing, advanced packaging, assembly, and test processes. With just a few clicks, users can:? 1?? Analyze industry trends and sentiment.? 2?? Receive actionable recommendations tailored to their KPI.? 3?? Visualize trend predictions with intuitive charts. ?? Tech Stack Highlights:? ?? Python: Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, Matplotlib ?? Gradio: Interactive web interface? ?? FAISS: For similarity search? ?? NLP Libraries: Sentiment analysis Key Features:? ?? Sentiment Analysis: Evaluates news headlines to identify opportunities and risks.? ?? Recommendation System: Provides 10 personalized strategies for improvement.? ?? Trend Prediction: Forecasts KPI trends using historical data and machine learning. ?? What We Learned:? Although we didn’t win, the experience was invaluable. We realized the power of presentation—a well-crafted demo can make all the difference. This past weekend was the Luddy Hackathon Third Edition, it went great! When joining the INgineering club as Vice President this past semester my goal was to encourage the discussion and implementation of cutting edge tech among the students. The third edition of the Luddy Hackathon was a perfect reflection of that desire. With such a large student turn out this semester I got to see unique approaches to all five problem cases in the fields of Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Visualization. No event is put together by one person, not only did our exec board work super hard to make the weekend run smooth, Cybersecurity Club at IU, Computer Science Club at Indiana University, Data Science Club at Indiana University, and Underrepresented in Tech (UnT) worked to put this Hackathon together. Thanks to everyone who participated and to those helped to put it together. Can't wait to see y'all for the fourth edition!

?? One of the Most Exciting Weekends! ?? I’m thrilled to share that my team and I participated in the 55-hour Luddy Hackathon, where we secured the ?? First Runner-Up position! ?? ?? Problem Statement: As part of the hackathon, we designed an API for a Point of Contact Collaboration Framework to address a growing challenge faced by modern organizations: connecting the right people across geographically dispersed teams. ?? Imagine a company employee struggling to find the right contact in another location for a specific product or project. Our API simplifies this process, enhancing collaboration and productivity. ??? ?? Key Achievements: 1?? Data Model Design: Created a high-level schema supporting the API functionality. 2?? API Documentation: Crafted a comprehensive guide for engineers to use and implement the API effectively. 3?? Proof of Concept: Developed a working API prototype with functionality for: Queries by product or repository name. Outputs including name, email, role, location, and more. ?? One of the Most Productive Weekend! ?? I am thrilled to share that I participated in my first prototype/case study-based hackathon—the #LuddyHackathonThirdEdition —held from 15–17 November. Over 45 intense hours, we built an application called "BackOps.ai: AI Agent for Operating a Backend System Using Natural Language", and we are proud to have secured the Second Runner-Up position! ?? ?? Project Overview: We created an AI agent leveraging Large Language Models (LLM) to process natural language commands and execute backend operations, such as inserting, updating, and deleting data in a key-value store. This project demonstrated how AI can simplify backend tasks and opened up exciting opportunities for automation. ?? Demo Video: https://lnkd.in/dXpH_PqV ?? Code Repository: https://lnkd.in/dAPhYzjY ? Key Features: 1?? Natural language interpretation for backend tasks (e.g., "Insert key 'my.test' with value 'my.value'."). 2?? Structured JSON responses for actions like insert, update, and delete. 3?? User-friendly interface built with Gradio. 4?? Auditing features to track changes in a key-value store. ?? Personal Insights: As a backend developer new to the AI field, creating an AI that can partially automate my role was an incredibly rewarding experience. This project challenged me to think differently and highlighted the transformative potential of AI in backend operations. ??
