We are proud to shine a spotlight on Ingalls shipbuilder Loraine Feliciano-Diaz. Loraine is an example of how you can achieve anything you set your mind to. Upon her husband's recruitment from Puerto Rico as an electrician at Ingalls, she made the decision to discover her own purpose in the shipyard. She is currently working in the Industrial Engineering department, where she is responsible for the distribution of vessel labor budgets for manufacturing services. This establishes the basis for measuring all labor performances. Loraine is proud of her growth as a shipbuilder. As she continues her career, she considers how far she has come and how everyone back in Puerto Rico is cheering for her success. Click here to read more about her journey from helper apprentice to business process analyst. https://lnkd.in/dPGeKV8D Thank you for your dedication and passion, Loraine! #HispanicHeritageMonth #ShipbuilderSpotlight

We are thrilled to announce that HII’s #IngallsShipbuilding division has been awarded a multi-ship procurement contract for the construction of three San Antonio-class (LPD 17) amphibious ships and a contract modification for the next America-class (LHA 6) large-deck amphibious ship – a first of its kind for amphibious ships! This contract brings continued stability to our Ingalls shipbuilders and reinforces our company’s commitment to supporting the joint U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps team. Congrats, shipbuilders! https://lnkd.in/gnTKcPXj #DeliveringtheAdvantage #USNavy #MarineCorps #BuildIt

The crew of USS Richard M. McCool, Jr. (LPD 29) now have a beautiful, custom watercolor painting to enjoy as they complete missions aboard the vessel. The custom watercolor of the ship was created in honor of the ship’s commissioning by Erinn Carty, manager, Branding & Art Production. The painting was presented to the ship’s commanding officer, Capt. Jeffrey D. Baker, during events celebrating LPD 29’s commissioning. Thank you, Erinn, for sharing your talents and congratulations to Capt. Baker and crew! #ShipbuilderSpotlight #LPD29

HII-built ships showed up and showed out during #RIMPAC! Seven ships built by Ingalls Shipbuilding, a Division of HII, and Newport News Shipbuilding, A Division of HII, sailed in formation among dozens of other multinational ships off the coast of Hawaii during this year's Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise. Can you spot them all in this video?

May we always remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001. Shortly after the events of 9/11, Ingalls shipbuilders crafted three San Antonio-class warships—USS New York (LPD 21), USS Arlington (LPD 24) and USS Somerset (LPD 25) — which were named to honor the cities and the nearly 3,000 victims killed on that tragic day. Each one of these ships carries their memory. We are proud to have contributed to preserving the memory of those lost on 9/11 and to support our Armed Forces through the world-class ships we build. HII remembers the lives that were lost during an unspeakable act of terrorism on our great nation more than two decades ago. Wednesday marks 23 years since the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, that resulted in the loss of thousands of lives. USS New York (#LPD21), built by Ingalls Shipbuilding, a Division of HII, was constructed using approximately seven tons of steel salvaged from the former twin towers of the World Trade Center. Two other Ingalls-built ships, USS Arlington (#LPD24) and USS Somerset (#LPD25), are named to honor the victims of 9/11 and incorporate steel from the other sites of the attacks. Today, these ships all sail to carry out our mission of protecting peace and freedom around the world. May we #NeverForget.

As shipbuilders work through the intense summer months, Ingalls Shipbuilding, a Division of HII, division is continuing to find ways to stay cool. The chill water air conditioning units installed on George M. Neal (#DDG131) is a pilot program to help combat heat stress. The chill water units in the ship creates a cool down zone for shipbuilders to use during the day. They are strategically placed within the ship to lower temperatures in key spaces. This is one of many initiatives in place that will help keep our shipbuilders safe and free from heat related injuries.
