Where have ING's past #Elevate cohort been in the news? In Wallpaper*, Ellie Stathaki's wrap up of emerging #London #architecture practices featured Collective Works, an up-and-coming practice founded by Alasdair Ben Dixon, Siri Zanelli and Khuzema Hussain. Read the full article in Wallpaper* now: https://lnkd.in/gPsP3KJ6 Feix&Merlin Architects co-founder Tarek Merlin has argued for queering housing design standards in the Architects’ Journal. Current housing standards, he suggests, are designed around the nuclear family - not suitable for the true diversity of relationships and families: https://lnkd.in/e75vdx5T ING has been proud to support Collective Works and Feix+Merlin as part of our #Elevate programme, helping small businesses with ethnically diverse leadership through a bespoke package of pro-bono #PR and #communications consultancy. The British Museum has today announced LINA GHOTMEH — ARCHITECTURE has won the competition to redesign its Western Range galleries. A pivotal moment in the Masterplan project to transform the Museum’s historic building, the project will be one of the biggest cultural renovations undertaken anywhere in the world. Over 60 teams applied to the two-stage International Architectural Competition, which ran for nine months. Five shortlisted teams were invited to take part in the second stage, from which Lina Ghotmeh Architecture, led by award-winning architect Lina Ghotmeh, emerged as the unanimous favourite. Dr Nicholas Cullinan, Director of the British Museum shared his thoughts: “Her team’s proposals demonstrated an exceptional and materially sensitive architectural vision for the British Museum, and their ‘archaeological’ approach clearly understood the ambition for this project to be as much an intellectual transformation as an architectural one…I am delighted we will be working together and excited for the years ahead at such a pivotal chapter for the Museum, embarking on a generationally significant project that will transform a third of our gallery space.” Read more about the British Museum’s Masterplan to transform the museum for the 21st century: https://lnkd.in/emkacaQw Photography: Dion Barrett Caz Facey Ben James Lucie Murray Isabelle Dickinson Kira Wheeler #TheBritishMuseum #Architecture #Competition?

How might #architects play a more influential role in the Government’s #growth agenda? ? Earlier this week, Rose Marshall and Lucie Murray convened a group of practice leaders to share some of the findings from our new research report, ‘Architecture Tomorrow: Resilience in Practice’. ? Whilst the Government’s growth agenda and sustained investment in Europe are grounds for optimism, the profession continues to face significant challenges, from fees and procurement to perception and reputation. ? There was a consensus that – on an industry level – there is a need to better communicate the value of architecture and the impact it can have on places and communities, and that architects should be more closely linked to Government, given their role as stewards of place. ? There was also a consensus that there needs to be more collaboration with the investment community, to understand long-term decision making. Our report shows that there has been a convergence in global #investment activity across office, living, industrial, and retail, with the office and living sectors’ 60% share in investment dropping to less than half between 2019 and today. How can architects plan effectively in response to the demands of a changing market? ? Learn more about these insights covered in our report – download a copy now: https://lnkd.in/eDn6eWZr ? Thank you to all those who came along to share their insights and experiences. We’ll be taking the report around the UK over the year, if you want to be part of the discussion please get in touch. ? They spoke alongside ING Media’s Managing Director Damian Wild, spotlighting the key topics of conversation – including the housing crisis and the current #realestate market. JUST LAUNCHED | Architecture Tomorrow: Resilience in Practice The built world is changing. Are UK architects ready for the challenges that lie ahead? Our latest report reveals: ?? The global architectural services market is projected to reach $523 billion by 2030 – how can practices capitalise on this and make the most of the opportunity? ?? The top 10 sectors with the greatest prospects illustrates the swing toward infrastructure, education and homes ?? Europe retains its crown as most fertile revenue stream for UK architects, followed by the Middle East ?? Architects should be talking more about emerging markets, from which they may be able to derive more revenue. This report bridges investment and architecture, guiding UK practices to target sectors where investors are focusing their funds. It is designed to help architects understand the current market landscape, explore future opportunities, and assess their readiness for the future. At ING, we believe that 'knowledge is power.' By identifying the best opportunities, practices can strategically enhance business development and communication efforts, maximising their success.
