Zinc is a key component of many proteins and enzymes and contributes to a number of important plant functions, such as growth hormone production and internode elongation. Without adequate zinc, plant vitality suffers and so do yields. If soils are cold, there will be less zinc available resulting in less root growth for zinc absorption.
