I am starting this Monday by on-boarding our fourth new Florida Tech Civil Engineering graduate this year. I really enjoy the mentoring process and getting these new hires up to speed quickly. They may take my time away from billable project work for the day, but it's a huge investment in our organization. And I'm glad to do it!!

The Palm Bay Utilities Department Water Distribution Team recently received some new equipment that will help improve our level of service to water customers. This equipment will allow the team to install water system valves with minimal impact on customers. This means that planned outages, often followed by precautionary boil water notices, will be significantly reduced for our related maintenance efforts. The Distribution Team spent 48 hours doing hands-on field training with the new equipment and the licensed vendor. As the department continues to grow and expand, we need to analyze out-of-date procedures and equipment to evolve and provide our customers with the highest quality service. The acquisition of this new equipment is a massive leap for the Utilities Department, as many municipalities forego or contract out this specialized work. #PalmBayProud
