InfraStrategies Partner Tesse Rasmussen shares her journey in transit, from biking in Copenhagen to advising on major projects like the High Desert Corridor and Honolulu Skyline. Read more about her work with Mpact and passion for shaping better communities! #InfraStrategies #Mpact #TransitPlanning
Meet Tesse Rasmussen, Mpact National Steering Committee member since 2019! Tesse works at InfraStrategies LLC, an Mpact Partner. Read on to learn about her. ?? Tell us about yourself & what you do. I’m Tesse, a plangineer from Los Angeles. I am a Partner at InfraStrategies, a boutique strategic advisory firm that works with agencies around the country to solve financial, governance, and strategy issues. As a Partner, I support the company by leading our operations. I also lead a lot of our pursuits, from meeting with potential new clients to developing proposals to prepping staff for interviews. And I also work on projects, most recently advising on financial plans and strategy here in Southern California for the High Desert Corridor Joint Powers Agency, which is tasked with building a high speed rail line connecting Brightline West and the California High Speed Rail system. In my spare time, I volunteer with my children’s schools (yes, I’m a PTA mom but I also advise our District Facilities Council on bond construction projects) and soccer teams (yes, I’m a soccer mom and team manager), and I love running (very slowly) and reading (very fast!). ?? What one phrase captures why you’re involved with Mpact? Change tomorrow’s communities through today’s actions. ?? What's the coolest place you’ve been to/worked on/seen? I loved working in Honolulu on the Skyline Project. Not only was it a cool project – Automated trains! Public-private partnerships! Unique environmental issues! – But it was also an amazing culture to learn about and experience. It was also an incredibly political project, so I learned a lot about navigating federal, state, and local relationships, the political process, and funding agreements. ?? Tell us about your most memorable transit experience. I spent a semester in college as an exchange student in Copenhagen, Denmark. The day I arrived, my host family proudly wheeled out an old brown 3-speed bike for me. That bike, and my unlimited transit pass, unlocked Copenhagen for me – giving me freedom to fully explore neighborhoods, understand European living, and figure out who I was and what I wanted to be. Which was, of course, a transit planner. ? How do you stay energized? Honestly, my involvement with Mpact is what is keeping me energized these days. Being surrounded by people who believe in creating healthy, vibrant, creative communities where citizens can thrive physically, emotionally and financially while accessing good jobs, housing, and amenities through multiple transportation options – this is what keeps my heart in my work. I think the other energizer is the people I work and volunteer with – both past and present. They energize me in so many ways – from a snarky meme sent on Slack during a bad day, to constantly showing up with fresh ideas on ways to improve a project or a process. (Shout out to you, InfraStrategies folks!)

? Breaking News: Detroit Lions win Super Bowl! ???? ...in our alternative NFL playoffs where winners are determined by ???????????????????????????? ??????????????????????. While the rest of America debates Chiefs vs. Eagles, our transportation planning team (who spends our days improving venue access for the Hollywood Bowl and other major stadiums nationwide) couldn't resist creating a championship bracket based on what really matters: the full customer experience of actually getting to and from the game. Move over, quarterback ratings! Together with ?????????????????? ??????????????????????, ??????., we analyzed everything from post-game travel speeds to the percentage of fans who walk to the stadium (Philadelphia, we see you crushing it at 23%) The results? In our transportation-focused playoffs, the Lions finally got their championship!?Ford Field edged out the competition with superior transportation management. Meanwhile, Tampa Bay fans might want to pack a good book - their post-game travel times double compared to normal conditions. Our analysis proves what every sports fan knows but rarely discusses: sometimes the real battle isn't on the field, it's getting home afterwards. We measured community metrics (transit access, walkability) and gameday performance (travel speeds, traffic delays) to determine which venues actually deliver the best customer experience. Just like our work at the Hollywood Bowl showed, sometimes you don't need massive parking lots or expensive road expansions to win at stadium transportation. Sometimes the best solution is simply giving fans better options for getting to the game. Read our full analysis of what makes certain NFL stadiums transportation champions (and why some might need coaching): https://lnkd.in/eFDjbWDU #???????????????????????????????????????????? #?????? #?????????????????? #?????????????????????????? ?????? ?????????? ?????????????????? - ??????, ???? ???????????? ?????? ?????????? ?????? ???????? ???????????????? ???? ?????????????????? ?????? ?????????????? ?????????????? ?????????? ???????????? ???? ???????????????????????????? ??????????????.

?? Historic moment for Chicago! Congratulations to the Chicago Transit Authority on securing a monumental $1.973B Full Funding Grant Agreement with the Federal Transit Administration for the Red Line Extension (RLE) project! Over the past five years, our InfraStrategies LLC team has had the privilege of supporting CTA, along with HNTB, in preparing the Financial Plan for this landmark project through the FTA Capital Investment Grants program. Sophie Guiny and Sharon Greene's strategic financial analysis and planning expertise helped structure a robust funding approach that successfully met FTA's rigorous requirements. This transformational project will bring rapid transit service to Chicago's Far South Side communities for the first time, extending the Red Line 5.6 miles from 95th Street to 130th Street. The RLE will create four new stations, providing crucial connections to jobs, education, and opportunities for over 100,000 residents. Congratulations to President Dorval R. Carter, Jr., the entire CTA team, Mayor Brandon Johnson and all partners who helped make this transformative project a reality. Chicago's Far South Side communities deserve this long-awaited investment, and we're honored to have played a role in helping bring it to fruition. #PublicTransit #Infrastructure #ChicagoTransit #EquitableAccess #TransitEquity #SustainableTransportation #CommunityDevelopment
Today, FTA Deputy Administrator Veronica Vanterpool joined the Chicago Transit Authority to sign a grant for the largest transit project in CTA history: close to $2 billion to support the Red Line Extension project. Extending L subway service to the Far South Side will help residents access jobs, schools, and healthcare and save at least 30 minutes in transit time to the Loop. This significant investment will improve economic prospects, including new, good-paying jobs – 12,500 during construction and close to 60,000 more thanks to development along the line. bit.ly/4gMVdxf
