Over the last three weeks, the Foundation proudly sponsored a series of Mark Cuban Foundation-led “AI Bootcamps” in three cities and reached?over 75 students:?? ? ??New York, NY: One World Trade Center ??Richardson, TX: Infosys Ltd. ??Raleigh, NC: Infosys Technology and Innovation Hub ? Eager, engaged – and brilliant students – engaged in #AI and #ML alongside dedicated Infosys mentors who worked tirelessly three weekends in a row to nurture and inspire rooms of high school students absorb:? ? ??AI fundamentals and real-world applications ??Industry insights from guest speakers ??Hands-on experiences with cutting-edge AI tools ??Potential career opportunities Student enthusiasm, creativity and fearless leaning-in to complex #AI topics was inspiring.?On the final day of the AI Bootcamp, students presented their capstone projects to an audience of peers and mentors.?Highlights included: a mirror powered by AI that promotes body positivity and good health practices;?a pocket-sized basketball coach that provides custom tailored lessons; an improvement to self-driving cars and much, much more. Together, let’s continue to nurture the young minds and build a more inclusive, AI-focused future. ? The Foundation was honored to be recognized by PENCIL, Inc. at this year’s “Celebration of Success” gala. Alongside Infosys, the Foundation was acknowledged for our commitment to the “Infy App Design Challenge”, a program matching NYC high school students with Infosys and WongDoody mentors to design an app that addresses a social need - now heading into its 7th?year. Alumni Tristan Katwaroo and Emily Lin shared how pivotal the Infy App Design Challenge has been to their academic careers and how they want to ensure future generations receive access to similar opportunities.?Foundation ED Katherine E. Maloney shared heartfelt remarks about how the power of “yes” from students and mentors?makes the magic of this program happen. A special acknowledgment to Beth Kolman and James Mazzullo for their leadership and persistence designing and delivering this program each year, and for working so collaboratively with the PENCIL team to achieve our shared impact. Also, a special thank you to Bharat Rathod for sharing your personal connection with PENCIL 6 years ago and helping to advance this partnership forward.?Lastly, but surely not least, we'd like to thank mentors Joshua Harris, Gaius Benbow and Michael Abeshouse for your support of the students during the Challenge and for joining us at the award event; and Jinan Martiuk and John R. for also celebrating with us. In recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, we’re proud to share two new additions to the #InfyEdTalk series. As a proud member of the TeachAI Advisory Committee, the Foundation will continue to support efforts to provide safe and reliable AI educational resources to classrooms.

This week, the Foundation ED?Katherine E. Maloney?welcomed students, educators and mentors from?the TECHNOLOchicas program and our partners Televisa Foundation to the?Infosys Providence Design and Innovation Center.?An in-person visit from the Mayor of Central Falls?Maria Rivera and a design workshop hosted by?Katie Edmonds from the?Rhode Island School of Design were highlights of the event! ? Students had time for a Q&A with the Mayor to learn about new STEM initiatives in their community and hear inspirational wisdom that the little steps matter in life.?The insights she shared highlighted the importance of representation and innovation in our communities. ? With support from?WongDoody and Infosys volunteers?James Neal,?Olivia Akerley,?Charlotte Powning and Ben Edelson, the students were tasked with identifying re-design options for the Infosys office – using the insights from the workshop about perspective and user experience.?We hope to welcome more?Technolochicas?students back to the Providence office soon – and more than that, hope to make a difference in the lives of Latinx students across Providence and Central Falls!? ? For #WorldTeachersDay 2024, we celebrate this year’s theme of “Valuing Teacher Voices” by showcasing the great work accomplished by the 1,220+ K-12 educators who took part in our?Pathfinders Summer Institute. With 19 of the leading professional development providers curating courses on ethical AI in the classroom, hands-on LEGO robotics, disability inclusion and much more, these educators made time to build their own confidence and competency in computer science education – in their free time.
