  • As part of our mission to help drive sustainable innovation, ITI has identified 8 key factors that influence a data center’s energy consumption level. Here’s a breakdown:? ? 1. The first of these factors is the?cooling systems in place. By harnessing emerging cooling technologies, data center designers can significantly reduce their facilities' #energy consumption and overall?footprint. ? 2. Next is the?type of hardware in place at the site, innovations in data storage technology and efficient processors?can reduce?the amount of energy used, heightening efficiency. ? 3. After that comes regulatory compliance, developing effectively crafted regulations, metrics, and performance standards can promote efficiency in energy usage and foster innovations that can drive #energyefficiency. ? 4. Proper siting and facility design are both important considerations for avoiding excess energy usage and inefficiency. ? 5. Cutting-edge software techniques, like server?virtualization, can significantly decrease the energy consumed by a #data center's hardware, reducing the number of machines required to operate. ? 6. By integrating renewable energy sources?into the energy mix can help reduce data centers' footprint?while improving?reliability and resilience against energy disruptions. 7. Overall, fostering an #innovation-friendly environment for #technology can go a long way to producing new solutions that can help optimize data center performance. ? 8. Finally, building a more resilient power infrastructure can reduce the need for on-site back-up power systems, reducing energy expenditure. ? • ITI continued its longstanding engagement on the United States Department of Defense's (DoD) Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) program by submitting new recommendations aimed at enhancing the DoD's proposed rulemaking. ? Our submission outlines seven key areas to fortify the CMMC program, ensuring it both safeguards national security and fosters a resilient defense industrial base. Notably, ITI emphasizes the importance of harmonizing CMMC requirements with existing regulations and clarifying the flow-down of requirements to subcontractors. ? ?? • "We're pleased that DoD continues to listen to the industry's implementation concerns. Over the past few years, DoD has continuously partnered with the Defense Industrial Base to advance the program and strengthen its implementation in DoD contracts. We encourage the Department to continue this path by addressing remaining concerns with the incident reporting requirements
harmonization and the enforcement of waivers."
