Over the past decade, U.S. broadband providers have invested a staggering $1.1 trillion in connectivity—five times the investment of the next-best OECD country, Japan. And in 2023 alone, U.S. ISPs spent $94.7 billion, outpacing the total 2010-2023 investments of seven OECD countries. This private investment powers high-quality, affordable broadband across a geographically diverse nation, yet recent FCC decisions threaten to slow this progress. Instead of treating broadband like a monopoly utility, let’s champion policies that sustain this innovation.
