??Ransomware Remains a Major Threat to Energy Sophos' latest report, "The State of Ransomware in Critical Infrastructure 2024," highlights the alarming rise in ransomware attacks targeting energy, oil/gas, and utilities sectors. Median recovery costs for these critical infrastructure sectors have skyrocketed to $3 million, four times higher than the global median. Additionally, 49% of attacks start with an exploited vulnerability. ?? Key Insights: ? Median ransom payments in the energy and water sectors have jumped to over $2.5 million. ? 67% of organizations in these sectors reported being hit by ransomware in 2024. ? Recovery times are increasing, with only 20% recovering within a week.
